Medical Marijuana

Dear Mr. XXXXXX:

Knowing of your interest in federal policy regarding medical marijuana, I wanted to take the opportunity to provide you with an important update on this issue.

This week, Congress passed, and the President signed into law the Fiscal Year 2015 funding bill. This bill included a provision that prevents the Department of Justice from using federal funds to enforce marijuana laws in states that have legalized medical marijuana.

As Chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee I support this provision. Some doctors and medical professionals believe that marijuana can be an effective treatment for some diseases, and I believe that patients shouldn't be prevented from using marijuana for such treatment under the proper supervision of a doctor.

I hope you are pleased with this news. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any assistance to you in the future.

Sincerely,
Barbara A. Mikulski
United States Senator

They should just legalize it period, the drug war is an utter failure, wasting tons of money that could go elsewhere. Not only that but look how much money states like Colorado are making off of it, and using the money to go towards it's education system. Other states should take a lesson.
