Cell phone footage showing a police officer punching and putting a 15-year-old girl in a choke-hold in Mesa, Arizona, has gone viral about being posted online. What is it about chokeholds these days? Is it to shut people up or the ultimate form of control? Are officers so stupid that they don't know about the national attention choke holds are getting? Rarely have I seen that technique used when the officer actually had his life threatened.A simple firing should be on tap for those who choose this method.

Interesting to note, most of these stories are NOT being reported on American media.

I support the police.

The choke hold was taken out of the Delaware State Police training in the mid eighties. It is rarely if ever taught anymore. It is used world wide by soldiers. It is taught in boot camps. It is a potentially lethal for of control.

I do not think the police should ever use the choke hold unless life or death is at stake. If you are in a situation where a subject is resisting and it appears it is working you can carry it to far. The officer's adrenaline and the suspect's as well can contribute to a lethal action if not released.

It is highly effective in the right situation. Misdemeanor arrest I do not think so unless the suspect has raised the level threat to lethal.

Just my two cents. I also support our troops and the police out there making my life in America better.

Sounded like the female witness said the"victim" punched the cop in the face. Girl or not if you punch me in the face you're going to get hit back. He was pinning the girl to ground but she wasn't in a choke hold. She said she couldn't breath yet she was yelling pretty loudly. You guys are so gullible.

If any of you have ever attempted to place someone under arrest who is resisting "which I highly doubt." You have no clue how effective a neck restraint is. You control the head you control the body. There is no rule book when fighting. You either win or loose. Stop committing crimes and fighting the police and you won't get your ass kicked. It's simple really.

Don't punch a cop. lol.. even I know THAT.
Some times the reaction by a cop to "fear" is over-the-top and wildly unjustified, but PUNCH (or try to punch a cop) and he has to maintain control of his current environment. Hence the associated ace-whupping.
It ain't rocket science.

I have no doubt that there are 'bad' cops out there. Just like there are 'bad' nurses, lawyers, plumbers, teachers, grocers, etc. But I am really getting sick of all of this trial by internet. If you weren't there, you have no idea what happened.

She was obviously not in a choke hold! Gullible, anyone?
