They did the same thing to the police dept in the 70's.
The same thing happened at the Balt. prison system and we know how that ended up.
.....and they've done the same thing in the military.......and all have reduced the level of quality in most respects. The good lord made men and women different...for good reason....so in the name of the same....quit the damn PC to make all of us equal!

Your local volleys have really big guys n girls that can't complete courses at mfri. One girl took 8 minutes to climb a ladder. Four minutes to hook her leg. Never got rescue randy out the window and down the ladder,took six minutes to unhook her leg and another seven minutes to come back down the ladder. She passed the fire school and this one story is her whole story the entire time. I asked jay jester how can she pass? The program doesn't cut folks if they can show comprehension and pass the written. I'm so glad I wasn't in Mrs layfields fire company.
If you want standards you will have to look at the private sector.
there are alot of people taking firefighter coarses at mfri that either their dept or the state reqires even though they only want to be emt's or paramedics.
I surely don't want a person in my fire company to look at me while I'm trapped and say I'm sorry I can't help you I'm only an EMT.that is why they should all be trained the same and be able to perform the same. Hell even a cook in the Army has to be able to fire his weapon correctly.
If you can carry or drag a 200 pound unconscious person 100 feet while wearing turnout gear and an OBA, then go back in for another one, I'm good with this policy. Otherwise...

And that is what happens in the Salisbury Fire Department. That is why EMS should be a Third Service in Salisbury and Wicomico County. You would get more volunteer and get better trained EMT's and Paramedics. This would provide some of the best Emergency Medical Services because they could focus on Emergency Medicine the majority of the time. The distractions for the Paramedics is the constant fire training with minimal EMS training. Daily Fire, Hazmat, boating, and Rescue training is a major distraction to the good paramedics.
A separate third service EMS department would definitely be done right in Salisbury and Wicomico County at a considerable savings to the tax payer. A real Public Safety Director should run the service.
Princess Anne fire department had a chief with no training. He appointed officers based on who he could control not based on qualifications.
Salisbury should put the paramedics back on the ambulance where they belong.
Why do you think the public schools are in the shape they are in??? If someones darling cannot compete..we must dummy everything down to be "fair." And the country can now no longer compete in the industrial world because our children graduating are so stupid. Everyone knows this is the truth but everyone is worried about being called names if they say a word.
