A Comment Worthy Of A Post 11-11-14

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Obama backs net neutrality as he calls for tough '...":

Do the folks here even understand what net neutrality is?

Let me break it down for you. Without net neutrality, your internet service provider can throttle your access speeds, and charge content providers to deliver content.

Lets make it easy. Lets say Comcast makes a "local news page" for Salisbury news. Now, we ALL love coming to Joes web site. Comcast would then see Joes web site as a problem, and could then throttle the speed for it, making it difficult to navigate, AND charge this web site a cost prohibitive price to stay online... thus squashing the competition.

This is effectively rigging the game. They don't want to compete for traffic against better content, nor do they want the end user to decide. This is simply a profit grab at the cost of the end users experience.

Say what you want about Obama, but if the only way to ensure net neutrality is to rally behind him on this issue, then I'm not stupid enough to cut off my nose to spite my face. I'm gonna support this initiative.

Amen. People are just opposing this to oppose Obama. Such tactics are terrifying!

Let me make it easy for you, my Obama lover. Without net neutrality your ISP certainly has a right to treat you like dog poop and you certainly have the right to switch ISP's

It's called a Free Market and competition between rival businesses. You can choose to get your internet you want from anybody offering what you want, and believe me, they want your business.

Allowing our most efficient government to threaten you with this imaginary elephant in order for you to bow to make the internet a government regulated entity is tantamount to turning in all your guns at the local Police Station.

Please refer to all the regulated industries that are virtually or actually run by the government and tell me how satisfied you are with their service and profitabilities.

Free market? WHAT free market? What ISPs am I supposed to switch to? Comcast refuses to wire 40% of Wicomico County, snd there's no FiOS or any other high-speed alternative.

I have Verizon's DSL because it is literally the ONLY ISP available to me faster than dial-up. So, your beloved "free" market has given me exactly one option. And I live less than 5 miles from Salisbury.

So, hey, I'm all about a free market. But until we actually get one of those, we need net neutrality.

Nope, this is one thing you want to side with him on.

If you HATE that corporations own and bias the media, think about what they will do when they have THAT kind of control of how you get your information.

This isn't free market, this is monopoly control all over again, but worse. Saying "no" to net neutrality is like begging the robber barons to come back and run everything.

Nope this is one thing you DO NOT want to side with him on.

Just keep in mind that Obama's Internet experts are the same babbling idiots who gifted us with "Healthcare.gov" last year.
