The city that once covered half of its $1million budget with speeding ticket fines and other 'police revenue' is disbanding its department.
The Waldo City Council voted 4-1 on Tuesday to dissolve the police force after both the police chief and his replacement were suspended over allegations that included ticket quotas.
The decision to disband Waldo's police is partly due to the estimated costs of modernizing the department's facilities and computer systems, which investigations triggered by corruption allegations showed were outdated.

And 9:41 is either a cop or one big uninformed dumbass. Or both.
Ticketing citizens for 1-3 miles an hour over the ridiculously low posted limit (then alternating it 3-4 times over a 2-3 mile stretch) has absolutely NOTHING to do with "safety".
THAT is SO obvious to everyone (except the Gestapo) that they DISBANDED these highwaymen (robbers and strong arm thugs with a badge).
I can name several DOZEN towns and counties between here and Daytona Beach that LIVE off $150-300 fines for 4 mph over the limit.
Of course, the Gestapo NEVER drive the speed limit (equal justice under the law? LOL!!!!!!!!!!).
