Oprah Winfrey 'hires $15K water tankers to hose the garden of her 40-acre estate' amid rising California drought restrictions

In an effort to reduce her bills from the Montecito Water District - which have increasingly surged over the last three years as a record drought continues to cripple California - Oprah Winfrey has reportedly been sending a fleet of water tankers to her 40-acre Santa Barbara property to maintain her gardens.

The well-to-do residents of Montecito - the wealthiest suburb in Santa Barbara county - were warned in November that, without a 30 percent reduction in water at each home, the town would effectively run dry.

But rather than let their manicured grounds desiccate, locals like Winfrey have found other ways to keep the grass green.

Tankers carrying 5,000 gallons of water have been seen arriving at the gates of the former TV titan's $87 million palace, neighbors have told Politico.

Would Obama reject a water pipeline pulling sea water out of the Pacific & traversing California? The main arteries would branch out in a manner similar to when you spread out your fingers and provide water to fight fires and for irrigation.

What a self serving bitch.

Irrigating with sea water? Wow, now there's a novel right wing idea. Bloody idiot.

A perfect example of a limousine liberal.

A water pipeline design creates a salinity reduction after sea water has traveled for long distances. The same principal applies to sea water going inland via a river. The water starts off as salt water and eventually becomes completely fresh. The pipeline incorporates a perforated design to duplicate the sandy bottom of an inland waterway.Perfectly safe for irrigation.

My God, 11:09! What have you been smoking? That's the most hogwash I've ever heard anybody try to pass off as information. I really, really hope your intent was some kind of sarcasm. If not, step away from the pipe (and not the desalination one). Your delusions are overtaking you.

So where is are this Oprah water being trucked in from? The water in California comes from Colorado and Idaho now, and they can't produce enough for California. Are those trucks being loaded in the East somewhere? At $300.00-$6000.00 per truck for transportation costs, plus the cost of the water itself....well who cares when you have more money than you can ever spend, no matter what you waste it on. its just hard for the rest of us to imagine having that kind of money where you never ask how much it costs when you want something done. One percent of 360 million is a lot of people with that kind of money. Look around. They are all around us. We are all peons to them.

She's a perfect example of a PIG!!

Her money. She worked hard for it and should be able to spend it any way she wants without being called a pig or a liberal or a self serving bitch. I suspect she gives more to charity every year than most of us see in a lifetime. As long as she's not asking me for anything, I couldn't care less how she spends her money.

7:07 PM: She wouldn't ask you for anything. You are beneath her wants and needs. Unless her "benevolence" would benefit her, you will never see any of it.

If oprah wants water she should use her millions to build a desalinasation plant then just like in saudi arabia.

Not good for her,but good for everyone else.

well look at it this way, the water she trucks in will go into the ground and someone else can use it.
