Livestock Grazing in Utah

I wanted to pass on this article written by Vickery Ecknoff about livestock grazing in Utah.

http://www.alternet.org/news-amp-politics/ranchers-want-our-public-lands-their-livestock-and-want-govt-stick-it-wild-horses?page=0%2C0

We have been researching the numbers of livestock on Federal Lands as input for this article. Because BLM Grazing Information is hard to access this should help all interested journalists to understand that while there may be rangeland degradation in Utah, it cannot be blamed on Wild Horses which are vastly outnumbered by cattle and sheep.

The following is a link to The Cloud Foundation website where we have put together some interesting charts:
http://www.thecloudfoundation.org/reading-room-faq-s-articles/population-data/444-public-lands-grazing-beaver-and-iron-counties-utah

I spoke with several reporters who said they did not report on livestock numbers because they were not accessible. I hope this information helps to give a more balanced story.

Well, then kill all the cattle and sheep, and let the wild, protected (we can't eat them) horses take over.

Then there's no meat at the grocery stores and restaurants.

That will solve the problem...

NOT.

There has to be a middle ground here, and the government and the EPA and DNR and BLM and all the other alphabet soup gringos need to let the RANCHERS be the environmentalists here and let rivers run to where they are supposed to run to the drought areas and quit trying to save 50 stupid minnows somewhere that aren't even NATIVE...I could go on.....
