The average wait time for new patients seeking a primary care doctor at the VA Maryland Health Care System is 81 days, the fourth-longest at facilities examined in a nationwide federal audit released Monday.
The wait is more than five times the 14 days the U.S. Veteran Affairs Department set as guidelines for someone to see a doctor. The department has said the guidelines were inconsistently used throughout the health care system and couldn't be followed because of growing demand for services and a lack of planning for the resources required.
The Maryland system includes the Baltimore and Perry Point VA hospitals as well as the Loch Raven VA Community Living and Rehabilitation Center. It also includes six outpatient clinics throughout the state at Cambridge, Fort Howard, Fort Meade, Glen Burnie and Pocomoke City.

And you people wanted them to run our health care? Just wait...
Maryland is run by Democrats. There-in lies the problem. And when Obamacare kicks in as the only care you can get people will die before they can see a doctor. Its a shame how our people who vote have been dumbed down by the Democrats.
Welcome to Obamacare... of course this won't happen until it moves to single provider. That is the scam they will say is going fix everything and it will just create another big black hole..
My wife and I can't do Obamacare. We looked into it after changing jobs and opening a new business and it just doesn't make sense. The Affordable Health Care Act costs way more than our previous insurance and the deductible is $12,000.00. Thanks Barry. We will pay the fine.
Can't say I blame you 10:41 that's exactly what I'm doing...even if its 500.00 its still cheaper then that expensive worthless Affordable Health Care!!! no part of it do I find affordable!!! and its useless benefits! The folks at the VA should be ashamed of themselves for what is going on....God Bless our Vets...all of them gave some and some gave all for this country!!! DO THE RIGHT THING BY OUR VETS!
Yes, I know. That's why I'm typing with one hand.
For those of you who are paying the fine.. it goes up, and up, and up..
1234, and we go underground deeper, and deeper. and deeper...
Hell, I'll become an illegal immigrant from, ummmm, England!
Yeah, that's the ticket!
I am currently being treated at the Baltimore VA center for a serious illness and have been since January. I can't say enough about the professionalism of the entire staff. I'm receiving timely care and treatment.
I have nothing but good things to say about the VA system.
