Watch What Happens When One Parent Speaks Out at a School Board Meeting About a Controversial Book Assigned to His Daughter

A New Hampshire parent was arrested at a Monday night school board meeting after he voiced outrage his daughter was assigned a book that contains a page detailing a graphic sexual encounter.

Gilford school officials claim the book, “Nineteen Minutes” by Jodi Picoult, contains important themes about a school shooting. But some parents believe a scene described in the book is inappropriate for their children.

According to WCVB-TV, the book contains a graphic description of rough sex between two teenagers, which parents were unaware of until the book had already been distributed to their kids.

“It’s absurd,” William Baer said at the school board meeting.

Unless people stand up and confront the officers during and after their illegal action these episodes will continue.
The reality is, the board members should be arrested for exposing children to lewd sexual acts as required reading. That is contributing to delinquency of minors and child sexual abuse.
They and the teachers involved should be convicted and placed on sex offender lists as the predators they are.
The cop? Well maybe he needs a good beat down in court.

My goodness, does no one respect Robert's Rules of Order anymore? Heinous crimes such as this should carry the death penalty.

Robert's Rules of Order....good one. I can assure you that the board members have no clue about Robert's Rules of Order. And if a parent did it would not matter because you would simply be arrested for making a point of order.

Strong arming the public is not the way to handle things. This was being recorded. Are all these idiots going to learn the hard way or will they figure it out?

I can see this sort of thing happening right here in Wicomico Co. Yet the police allow black kids to make videos with weapons and drugs and drug money and do nothing about it.

We better wake up its coming !

The cop COULD have showed up and said "this isn't anything a citizen needs to be arrested for" (you know, the "discretion" part of their job) and told them to deal with his complaint.
The man wasn't being violent, threatening anyone, or "disturbing the peace". He TALKED for more than 2 minutes! OH NO!!
This is probably one of those cops who claim they would NEVER fire on American citizens. LOL. Just like the SS troops, the Gestapo, and even the U.S military, they wouldn't hesitate to blow anyone away if the order was given. they don't get paid to think, they get paid to follow orders.
Further, THIS is the best book these people could find to teach in our schools? The cop SHOULD have arrested THEM for promoting pornography to children. A kid gets suspended for breaking a pop-tart into the rough shape of a gun, but they get to assign a book about kids shooting up a school and having sex? And jail anyone who questions that??
WTF!??

OK, from a LEO perspective. There is a right way and a wrong way to protest the distribution of the book. I did not read the explicit passages of the book, but will accept their complaints that it is too graphic and explicit in nature, so I too would probably be against my children having access to the book. If I really wanted to voice my opinion on the school's poor judgment, I would have waited to called upon and calmly presented my comments and complaints, so everybody would have gotten the chance to hear what I had to say. Interrupting the meeting like a disgruntled teenager gets him no where. Presenting his comments in a mature well thought out manner would have done a lot more to win people over to his side. He wanted to be arrested and told the cop that's what would have to happen. He was hoping the cop would lose his temper so he could sue everybody and he never got that opportunity. Honestly the cop probably shared the man's opinion about the book but he's got a job to do and he did it - as quietly and professional as possible with no use of force. The man wanted to make a spectacle of things and get his 5 minutes of fame and he got it. Viva la revolucion!!

Shame on that teacher for not reading the book before assigning it to students. At Delmar HS, a student was allowed to do a book report on a book entitled " Forever", by Judy Blume." It has graphic sex in it. Then the student had to do an oral book report on it in front of class. She said, "Basically this book is all about sex." I think a more appropriate book could have been selected.
I respect this father for standing up for what he believed.
