A state trooper has been suspended after pointing a gun at a teenager when he pulled over her car at a traffic stop.
Timothy Wagner, of Michigan State Police, drew the weapon at the 18-year-old near Sturgis after he clocked her red Pontiac doing 77 mph in a 55 mph zone.
After being handcuffed and taken into the trooper's car, she told him she was speeding after receiving a call that her family home had been broken into.

Why did he draw his weapon on her in the first place. If he was doing his job then I don't see anything wrong with it.
A simple one here. Today's world when the party lights come you'd better stop. I don't see anything wrong with the Troopers action.

thankfully you don't get to make that decision.
If he is constantly thinking about a colleague who got shot then he will treat every civilian encounter the same way. Until he actually kills someone, which I am sure will be decided as justified as he would be in fear of HIS safety, he will be ticking time bomb. Not to mention the end of the article said he was "clearing" the vehicle as to not be lured into a dangerous situation. Aren't all traffic stops this situation and wouldn't he be drawing his weapon on every stop?? I would call this cop over zealous at the least!
Sh pulled right over without hesitation. She also showed both empty hands outside the vehicle and he still pointed the gun and approached.
He needs to go sell ice cream cones or some similar kind of work...

Oh that's right, you were there and witnessed the whole incident.
I saw the statistics for deaths of officers in Maryland the other day. In 2012 there were 4 officers killed in the line of duty. It said that one had died from an illness. The other 3 were all killed in traffic accidents. All 3 were chasing another person and lost control of the vehicle. It seems to me the police should be more afraid of their own driving than other drivers.
'With the recent incident involving the murder of Trooper Paul Butterfield while approaching a vehicle at the forefront of my mind I elected to 'clear' the vehicle for my safety as I feel the vehicle could have suddenly pulled to the side in an effort to lure me into a vulnerable position where I could easily be shot.'
Is this the crap they are using now to justify their behavior? Guilty from the start. I was in fear.

the Police have protocol to follow.. it is always when they depart from the norm do we read about their actions on the internet..This Officer is unstable and unfit for the job ..he should be terminated immediately for being an self empowered terrorist instead of a law enforcer
Cop, or no cop, that man should not be carrying a gun. He is itching to shoot someone. Its just a matter of time. He is a bad cop. Worse part is, once he does it, the police board will give him some more paid time off while they conclude his shooting was justified (like they always do). Then they cover up the facts so lawsuits are unsuccessful. If cops would actually get rid of the bad apples, they wouldn't all get such a bad rap.
