SYNOPSIS: On May 28, 2014 the Fruitland Police Department responded to the area of Ridgefield Lane and South Camden Avenue for several reports of vehicles that had been ransacked and items stolen. Officers learned that during the evening of May 27th and the early morning of May 28th several vehicles in that area had been entered by an unknown suspect(s) and some were reported to have had property stolen from them. All of the vehicles had been left unsecured. Many items of value were not taken and it appears that the suspect(s) were primarily looking for small electronics as well as cash and loose change. Anyone that may have observed anything in the Camden Avenue area during that night or that may have any information is urged to call (410) 548-2803. Any available officer will be able to assist with obtaining information. The Fruitland Police would also like to remind citizens to lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of sight to reduce the opportunities for criminals. Please report any suspicious activity in your neighborhood immediately.

SYNOPSIS: On May 28 at approximately 0148 hours, a Fruitland officer conducted a traffic stop for speeding in the area of S. Fruitland Blvd and S. Division St. Due to the behavior of the vehicle occupants and the officer’s observations, a narcotics detection K-9 was requested from the Wicomico County Sheriffs Office. The K-9 alerted to the presence of the odor of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. A probable cause search revealed a marijuana smoking device and a loaded .40 Caliber Pistol with obliterated serial numbers. Herron is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition. Herron was placed under arrest and transported to WCDC.
