Baywater Animal Rescue Alumna Graduates From DPSCS K-9
Cambridge, MD -- For 10 years, the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Corrective Services (DPSCS) has trained K9 officers from around the nation at its Division of Correction K-9 Headquarters in Hagerstown, Md. This is the first time a Baywater Animal Rescue alumna has graduated. Taffy was surrendered to Baywater Animal Rescue last June because her family said she was “not trainable”. It seems that idea has been put to rest as Taffy recently graduated from the DPSCS K9 program. Taffy will be working with her partner OFC Pepper at the Sussex Correctional Institiution, Delaware Department of Correction. Baywater Animal Rescue is the Mid-Shore’s Premiere No Kill shelter and rescues over 300 pets annually. You can view pets waiting for adoption at www.baywateranimalrescue.org.

The dog looks in very good shape , can't say much for the cop with him!
Why doesn't local LE do more of this? It seems they are obsessed with getting K-9's from Eastern Europe which if they knew anything about the dog trade in those countries they would be mortified. Puppy mills. We are forever seeing press releases and these imported Shepherds they are fond of are dying way too young due to genetic problems caused by inbreeding. Don't believe for one second they are telling you the truth about the lineage. They don't even know themselves and will say anything to sell a pup to an unsuspecting person.
I've heard some in LE say the Eastern Europeans are full of all kinds of schemes but then they trust them in dog breeding. It's nuts.
If you are not going to meet the breeder and the pups parents anyway then at least look into a shelter dog.
People are the ones that need training. They get puppies before they realize all the responsibility. What a great story. More shelter animals need to be given a chance!
