We Really Hope Nissan Puts Its New Racing Engine Into Cars We Can Buy

Nissan has revealed the remarkably small, powerful engine that will power its NEOD RC car, which will compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in June.

To illustrate just how unusual this engine is, Nissan showed it off in the arms of Shoichi Miyatani, president of Nismo, Nissan's motorsports and performance division.

The DIG-T R 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine weighs just 88 pounds. It measures 19.68” x 15.74” x 7.78”, small enough to fit in your carry-on bag.

I have a blender that I would trust more than a Nissan engine.

This is interesting technology whether Nissan or Chevy. It may be the engine our cars will be using in the future.

You have a problem with Nissan engines. So I guess you think the Ford Triton 5.4 that Ford stuck the buying public for 13 years was a good engine. Car and Driver called the 5.4 Ford V/8 at best a good boat anchor.I mistakenly was dumb enough to buy Ford trucks with this engine and I enjoyed 5 years of misery.Nissan's V/6 and Titan/ Infinity V/8 are some of the most dependable availible!

This engine needs to be put in a motorcycle. The Boss Hoss has a 350 Chevy engine that puts out around 400 HP,but it weighs at least 300 LBS.This could actually replace the power at a mere 88LBS.That is truly amazing.
