Maryland Polar Bear Plunge Rescheduled for March

The tough souls who volunteer to run into icy water (for a good cause, that is) will get their chance to do just that in a couple months.

Organizers of the 18th Annual Maryland Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point Park announced Tuesday the event has been rescheduled to March 8.

The plunge was supposed to be held last Saturday, but was postponed because of bitter cold temperatures and high winds.

In a statement, the organizers said, "A combination of high winds gusting up to 25 mph has created three-foot waves. Combined with freezing temperatures, this has created a large buildup of snow and ice on the shore resulting in unsafe conditions for Plungers."
