About two dozen parents staged a demonstration in Annapolis Tuesday evening, calling on the state to either delay or back out of implementing the Common Core federal education standards.
Critics have charged that schools will collect and distribute private information about students through Common Core. Teachers have also complained that the standards are being implemented before a formal curriculum has been written.
Kimberly Shaw, a mother from Annapolis who was one of the demonstration's organizers, told WBAL News that the state should at least "pause" implementing the new federal standards.
