The U.S. government has – at least at some times in some parts of the world – long protected drug operations. (Big American banks also launder money for drug cartels. See this, this, this and this. Indeed, drug dealers kept the banking system afloat during the depths of the 2008 financial crisis.)
And opium production is at an all-time high under the American occupation of Afghanistan.
Something similar has been happening in Mexico …

It should be obvious the drug war is a scam to launder billions. We are being lied to on so many levels it's disgusting. Fast and Furious ties right into this. Wachovia and Wells Fargo own the planes the drugs are shipped in on.
12:39 Agreed, big international banks are going to make sure pot stays illegal. Their cronies can "persuade" greedy state politicians from thinking they are going to get a piece of the pie.
