1 Child Dies, 2 Injured After Falling Through Ice On Md. Pond

WASHINGTON - A 10-year-old boy died Monday evening after falling through the ice on a Gaithersburg pond earlier in the day.

Two other children remained hospitalized in stable condition Monday night, said Scott Graham, spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire Department.

The storm water retention pond is located behind the Crown Farm development, north of Great Seneca Highway on Diamondback Drive, which is currently under construction, ABC 7's Tom Roussey tells WTOP.

I've been wondering about those retention ponds. They're all over any new development. How to keep kids out A REALLY TALL FENCE. We've already had someone drown in one.
