Two Bald Eagles Found Dead In Maryland Last Week

Killing bald eagles is a crime -- the birds are federally protected. But whoever shot bald eagles in Maryland last week may not know that.

Two birds were shot dead within days of each other in Montgomery County, and police want to find whoever was responsible.

Maryland Department of Natural Resources police say the first bird was killed on Christmas Day. The bird was feeding on the carcass of a deer in a field off of Georgia Avenue in Brookeville, Md. A photographer stopped to take pictures, when the bird was shot and killed.

Days later, a second bird was found wounded in Darnestown, Md., near Deakins Lane. Department of Natural Resources Police Corporal Daniel Yankie says that bird later died.

They taste pretty good. Kind of a cross between a spotted owl and a plover.

Bald Eagles are very aggressive from time to time and will actually attack people, especially hunters. If the person or persons who killed them would report that they were attacked (if they were attacked)by those birds at least a logical explanation would accompany the dead bodies. An eagle attack is a scary thing.

Obama recently said no action would be taken against owners of windmills that killed eagles. With that in mind why should anyone else be held accountable? By the way, how does Obama get to pick and choose what laws are going to be enforced? I would think the liberal PETA types would be raving mad about Obama doing this. If Bush had done the same thing it would be major news for sure. Double standard strikes again.

Killing any predatory bird is against the law, not just eagles, hawks, owls, buzzards etc.

There's something about people in tree stands that sets them off.2 hunters I have spoken with have been attacked by bald eagles. Not hawks or owls, but bald eagles.
