The genius that approved a sideways light in that spot should be fired.
How many sideways lights do you ever see?
Real easy to miss especially for people that are driving THROUGH Salisbury on that busy part of rt 13.
The light is round either way it's turned! If it were upright, the bridge would hide the red light at a distance.
There is no sideways in round.
That's why they have colors...............genius.
That yield sign crossing RT50 at Denny's is another genius of traffic engineers.
Lot's of them if you even get off the shore.
My understanding is that the light was situated horizontally because the framework holding the light was built too low.Rebuilding the framework would have cost a considerable amount & justified this action.Some of the trucks passing under the bridge would have actually hit the light had it been vertically placed.
Fire the town supervisor.
That's what you get when long term state road big shot employees like Gary Comegys, his supervisor, and many others were home taking naps or who knows what while on the state clock. Everyone that worked there joked about it.
That's where Rudy Cane worked and what he did also! Now he's got a sweet retirement and double dipping.

WTH! Who and what are you talking about? I'm sure if you checked you would find out there is no such thing as a town supervisor!
This time the light had nothing to do with it. Witnesses say the light was green and the vehicle coming off the bypass went thru the red light.
The light is laid on its side because it is hard to see in a tall vehicle when you come under the overpass. Moving it any farther down would make it too low for trucks to pass.

Why was a giant fire truck there at all, I don't see smoke, flames, or gas on the road. Just another excuse to charge the peoples insurance and make money for the fire department!

Insurance pays for the "extra personnel" for the ambulance.
Insurance pays for the emergency response.
PIPP pays for engine responses also.

The big giant fire truck is there to block the big traffic from running over people trying to treat the injured people. The firemen are helping treat injured people alongside the ambulance personnel. They're removing the broken glass, auto parts, oil and coolant from the roadway so you don't damage your tires or car. Educate yourself and your questions will disappear.
They need to install blinking lights on the other side of the bridge to alert motorists that there is a red light ahead, just like what they did by the shorebirds stadium.
Insurance covers the damages to your vehicle, property damage and medical expenses. Not emergency equipment responding to the scene. YOU ARE A MORON!

Why doesn't the "big giant fire truck" respond to minor MVC's to protect the police officers. Why aren't "In fact, lawsuits flying and be successful" when police officers get struck and no "big giant fire truck" is their to protect them. If more firemen are killed along roadways then I submit to you that they shouldn't be responding to these type of calls. There you have it, problem solved and no killed firemen along the roadway.
When I was a kid, traffic accidents were responded to by Police and if necessary, an Ambulance. If a "Wash Down" was necessary, then, and only then, did they bring out a fire truck, and then it was just a small tanker truck to spray off the gas or oil on the highway. The glass and metal was sweep up by the tow truck company. If extrication was required of occupants then a Fire Rescue vehicle came to the scene, not a full size Giant Fire truck, does anyone realize how expensive it is to roll out one of those, compared to a small pickup with the Jaws of Life and a few jacks?
This pickup also carried traffic barricades, gee sounds like good management of resources to me!
all this crap. does anyone know if the people involved are ok? that's important.

Ok Genius 9:30 AM look closely at the picture again. Look where the ambulance is positioned and look where your "giant fire truck" is positioned. That ambo and farmin are clearly in the travel portion of the highway with no protection so there goes your "giant fire truck" theory. Some of these clowns try so bad to justify responding a giant fire truck on calls they aren't needed on. Then they are to stupid to look at the evidence that proves them wrong and makes them look very stupid.

I love this comment more than any of the rest. Justifying a "giant fire truck" by say they are there to remove the broken glass, auto parts, oil, etc. Guess what Dumbo the tow truck charges the owners of the vehicles they tow for sweeping up that mess. Educate YOURSELF and look at a bill from the tow company before you run your mouth. Firemen are so stupid they sweep up debris for free and the tow companies laugh all the way to the bank.

Hey Dumbo what part of "it's the job of the tow truck operator to sweep up the debris" don't you understand. Who said anyone has to drive through the debris. When we see you clowns sweeping debris at accident scenes we laugh at you guys because you look like grunts providing slave labor. The tow truck drivers bill and you all do the work for them. They laugh all the way to the bank.
By the way you don't have the authority to say it will change or not. Just remember you will always be on the bottom of the totem pole.

So, from the comments posted here, nobody really knows how these bills are paid. I just this week received an ambulance bill for last December. This is now December.
So, they are just now billing me after a year? They must not need the money is what I'm thinkin'.
Why is that "genius"? There is plenty of site view...why make drivers come to a complete stop? How many crashes have there been because of the yield vs. stop? Are you suggesting that motorists are too stupid to negotiate the intersection? If you frequent it...maybe so.

When a crash is called in...who is in charge of the crystal ball to know if a vehicle will catch on fire? There is not a fire apparatus that carries barricades...that is done by local SHA or County Public Works.
Car insurance can be billed for everything needed to respond to an accident. It will pay to replace guardrail, utility poles, MOT, private property, or anything else an agency will submit a bill for that can be attributed to a crash. Many of the bills are generated by a third party...some are sent after an insurance company won't pay. You are complaining because you were given extra time to pay a bill? HAHA...heard it all now.

The bottom line is Salisbury and Fruitland never responded a fire truck on car accidents in which and ambulance was dispatched. Why you might ask? Because they weren't needed.
You might ask why are fire trucks dispatched now? Because the Far Cheefs were bored because there were no fires to respond to and they needed to boost LDS ego to respond on something just to say I am in COMMAND. How they can command a car accident or a shooting when multiple agencies like police departments are involved is beyond me. They can't do my job so they can't command me.
Another reason they started dispatching themselves to car accidents is because they needed to increase their call volumes to justify paid jobs because fire calls were and are down. Bottom line the need for paid fireman is pretty much a thing of the past and really not needed, but they are still on city payrolls because that's the way we have always done it. Mayors and city council members don't know the jobs they are elected to oversee so they are misguided and misinformed and continue to allow them to continue to do the same things they have been doing for years. Can you imagine how much tax money could be saved if the city would cut back on paid firemen and unneeded fire trucks. The county should do an audit and realize they are spending to much money on the fire service as well.
I know for a fact that Salisbury FD has a specialized vehicle marked "Traffic", yet it never seems to make it to any of these calls.
Also, if the giant fire trucks are there to keep traffic from mowing down EMT's, where are the dents in the sides and rear end from stopping all that traffic?
My favorite one is about all the firefighters getting hit by cars! There's a perfect reason they should have left the big giant fire truck back at the station!
Salisbury does not own or operate a traffic control unit. Fruitland and Pittsville do.
A simple Google of emergency workers killed at accident scenes will give you plenty of tragic stories to read. Firefighters, Police and even tow truck drivers have all fallen victim to inattentive drivers passing through accident scenes. Fire trucks at accident scenes are a national practice for safety, patient care and scene clean up. Tow truck drivers do not remove motor and transmission fluids. They are classified as Hazardous Materials and are require fire service personnel to remove properly. Until you've stood on the road at an accident scene you cannot clearly understand the concept. Cars passing by within inches will change your mind toward safety.
In case nobody noticed, there was an overturned van on the other side of the fire truck. I saw a fireman remove a crowbar from that truck that I assume was going to be used to open the van door. I guess the ambulance driver forgot to bring his crowbar.
