Pure hatred at it's best. Unfortunately, it is a part of a cruel and cowardly history of American.
This is a confederate flag , they were defeated and are now part of this country. That's all it means , however some think it is racist , I don't know why. Maybe it's just another card to play in the racist game?
Battle flag designed after a Scottish flag because the original CSA flag looked too similar to the US flag.

The Stars and Bars. The Confederate Battle Flag which was a greater symbol for those soldiers on the battle field, fighting and dying more for their leader, Gen. Robert E. Lee than anything else.

The Scottish version was Blue with a white cross and was first adopted in 1385 so the basic flag with variations has been around much longer than the "Rebel Flag". As far as the negativity that seems to be brought up about the flag that problem is an issue of peoples hearts nat the flag itself.
This was the flag in the show about 2 good ol boys and their orange car. My children loved that show. Other than that it means nothing. Why do we try to give meaning to dead things?

this, the most beautiful flag to ever fly over american soil, honors those noble sons who fought for states rights in the war of northern aggression. and today it also represents a willingness and steadfast determination to resist and destroy the tyranny that has swept across america. death to tyrants, and death to traitors! america will outlive you all, no matter how many turds you manage to put on the throne.

It wasn't about states rights. It was about slavery. The south lost, just like they would today. A bunch of inbred, hilarious losers. Got taught a lesson and still haven't learned it!
Looking around at todays world, maybe the south was right all along.
It means freedom of speech. It is a symbol of State rights vs. Federal bullying (i.e. what we have today). Shame they lost.
First of all, this flag is NOT the "Confederate Flag." It is the "Battle Flag of Northern Virginia." This design is the one most synonymous with the one used in various forms on many of the other flags that were flown by the Confederate States
On this big "X" there are thirteen white stars. They represent the thirteen original, united colonies from which the United States began. Each one of these colonies had its own system of self government... until the start of 'northern aggression' when the northern states began trying to usurp authority over the southern states. This was the main cause of the Civil War.
The stars are laid out in the pattern of an X, and the blue bands are put on the thirteen stars to show that the southern states no longer wanted to be a part of the union with the northern states. The message of the flag's design is ... CROSS US OUT of your Union! The southern states withdrew from the union in a movement called "secession," which led to the Civil War.
That is the only message this flag is sending!

I am a old white Cracker, from a deep south state. Flying that flag in today's world is really dumb. The civil war was over 150 years ago. Let's move forward
Like many symbols its meaning has changed over time. It is wrong to say it represented State's rights in the Civil War. The Articles of Secession passed by 11 Southern States explicitly identify slavery and the abolitionist policies of Abraham Lincoln as the reason for the separation. Heck, 2 even mention his running mate Hannibal Hamlin. However, no it has evolved into a symbol that speaks to preserving and defending what has been traditional and good since Reconstruction.
Same thing as the word Redskins.
Time we change the old pAst.
All I have to say is that it is one beautiful flag. It is much more pretty than the US flag.

For me it stands for something that should have been destroyed after the civil War ended.
Rebelling against the federal government.
A reminder that the people are in charge of government not the other way around.

The misguided people are people like you that invent history. I bet you voted for Obama didn't you.
You should take some Southern history courses from real historians and not Yankee writers.
God Bless the South and its Southern Patriots. Only the ignorant wouldn't understand.
General Robert E. Lee was one of the most beloved Americans by both Northerners and Southerners.
Just sit back and think what this country would be like if the South had won the Civil War.
