WBAL News has learned that Vi Ripken, the mother of baseball hall of famer Cal Ripken, Jr., was assaulted in a bank parking lot in Aberdeen today.
Aberdeen Police aren't saying much about the incident, other than calling it an assault at the NRBS branch on Bel Air Avenue in Aberdeen.
Sources tell WBAL News that Mrs. Ripken was the victim of a holdup attempt, and was not hurt in the incident.

In a right to carry state this would not happen..very often
If this were my mother she would have 24 hour assistance/security. After the kidnapping she would not be left alone.
In a right to carry state this would not happen..........but once. Must have been a Red Sox loser.
Come on Cal, pony up and get momma some security ffs.
Vi must be hangin' in the wrong hood!
It is awful that they still don't have the criminal who kidnapped her and now this. She needs someone with her at all times for sure. God Bless her and the family.
