Maryland representative Donna Edwards, whose district includes FedEx Field, has co-sponsored a bill with Rep. Eni Faleomavaega to outlaw the Washington Redskins name and strip the team's trademark protection.
"I think it's well time," Edwards says. "I certainly understand where the Native American community is coming from."
News of her bill comes a day after NBC Sports commentator Bob Costas spoke out against the Redskins' name.

I heard that the Washington Redskins were going to go ahead and remove the most offensive part of their name....."Washington".
How about redskin potatoes?
why don't you shut your pie hole and concentrate on getting the State of Maryland off the list of the 10 most taxed states rather than sticking your nose where it doesn't belong.
Donna Edwards doesn't sound like an Indian name to me. Maybe she should just butt out. Native Americans are having no problem with the name. I guess every race needs its Al Sharpton/ Jesse Jackass flag waver, though.
Marylands gov't has run alot of business' out of MD. Keeping pissing them off and you'll be watching the LA Redskins
Vote the POS out of office
5:51..4:58 ..ditto....be the big finger to these morons to move to an indian reservation..be tax free too...
If it was the Washington Rednecks, best believe the name would've already been changed!
I think the name Edwards (Education Wards) is offensive. It sounds like she came from some nut house. Maybe she did?
How about the " Wasington Gangstas"? Would fit the city. But wait, they are in Maryland. Where is O'taxxy on this?
And what suddenly made her be offended? They have been named the Redskins for HOW LONG?
How about shorten it to 'Skins and the cheerleaders could show some .....................skin?
7:42-They were the Redskins even when Randolph Scott rode the prairie, but he called them Injuns.
Since when does anyone take Costas as an expert?, He's a Howard Cosell wannabe...
