TITLE YOU DON’T WANT: THE MOST DANGEROUS STATE IN THE U.S.

Tennessee — generally thought of as the home of country music, scenic Smokey Mountains, enthusiastic college football fans and quiet rural towns – is the most dangerous state in the United States. You read that right.

According to the financial website 24/7WallSt.com, based on FBI crime statistics for violent crime per population and poverty rate, Rocky Top is a little more jagged than you may realize.

The statistics show:

- Violent crimes per 100,000: 643.6
- Poverty rate: 17.9 percent
- Percent of population with bachelor’s degree or higher: 24.3 percent
- Property crimes per 100,000: 3,371.4
