Station 2 and Station 2's ambulance just got dispatched for a maternity patient at the detention center. The ambulance is responding and so is the paid fire engine crew from Station 16. Not only is the paid fire crew responding so is the volunteer fire engine crew from Station 2 responding. Do you really need an ambulance and 2 fire trucks with all those fireman responding on an ambulance call for a pregnant prisoner?
HaHaHa the volunteer Engine 2 beat the paid fire crew to the detention center and established command!! BAM!!

Best part is a childbirth or eminent childbirth is considered to be a priority 3 non-Emergency call and only warrants a BLS ambulance respomse. Yes, SFD, only a basic life support crew of 2, Not a response of at least 10 personnel and 3 pieces of equipment. I am suprised that the duty chief did not respond. Once again the volunteers stepped up to plate. Joe- need to find out just how many non EMS calls that SFD jas run this year. Central Dispatch should be able to break down the statistics. It should be available under FOI.
Doesn't the detention center have transportation vans that take prisoners places? (court and doctor's appts.) It looks like that could have been used to go the hospital instead of the fire dept. overkill. Or just deliver the baby in the infirmary. There must be some medical staff on the premises.
Volunteers in Salisbury would never survive in the county. They are spoiled.
And so another one goes on the government dole so he/she can grow up and join the bros over on Doverdale playground. Fix her now so there will be no more babies for the state to raise.

Follow the money trail. The ambulance and fire dept. will charge insurance or medicaid for the transport. Never ending cycle of taxpayer dollars.
Have you ever been on a call involving childbirth ? What you are failing to recognize is one call becomes two patients. This is common practice across America. If everything goes according to Gods plan things will flow well with trained medical personnel. Nothing about childbirth is simple. Unfortunately if something such as breach birth or prolapsed cord it takes a very serious turn. Please
be receptive to our emergency responders. They know what they are doing and they are trained to handle such emergencies.

Yes they do. By the way my mother had 5 children and never called for an ambulance one time.

I heard the call and dispatch said she was 32 and this was her 12th delivery. What a POS she is. That is a lot of welfare.

And you are a paid farmin in Salisbury who volunteers in the county. So what makes them spoiled since you are so much better than them?
After 12 prior births, I would imagine the child would fall out. BTW, that's at least $144k annually in welfare, with EBT/SNAP on top of that.

If you need over 10 people at a childbirth call that does not say much abouy the caliber of the personnel ridong the ambulances in Salisbury. Maybe they all slept through the emergency childbirth part of emt class.
If the report of this being her 12th delivery is true......then she's the poster child for Obamacare! How mant people are ready to pay the way for this POS? Wonder if we can find out if the conception occurred while she was in jail? If so.....she's part of the "benefit package" for the CO's.
When my baby was born, it was a midwife, three nurses, me, and my wife.
I do not believe that a fireman would be able to qualify to do the job that my wife was given. That leaves 4 people for a delivery.
1 nurse and myself held the legs. Nothing difficult there. I am guessing that the prison has people who can hold legs. That includes everybody who can stand and also has shoulders.
It seems you would probably need 2 EMTs and an Amblance driver. 1 EMT to lead the delivery, one for a worst case scenario with the baby, and the driver to take them to the hospital. I would be surprised that the prison didn't have at least 1 EMT on staff. And probably a PA or a MD.
So why do they need 10 people there? No matter how many kids this woman has had, there's no way all those hands are going to fit up there.

Two patients means 2 ambulances not 2 fire trucks and an ambulance you illiterate moron.
The more you paid firemen try to justify your job the more ignorant you sound.
So why do they need 10 people there? No matter how many kids this woman has had, there's no way all those hands are going to fit up there.

You do not separate mom and baby unless it is absolutely
necessary. The medic unit called for additional ALS. The volunteer engine did not have ALS, hence why the career
engine went. There is no need to tie up two medic units.
It would have been best if the volunteer engine went in service. However they would never do that. It is also funny just shortly after this they scratched on a fuel spill and almost on an AFA.
I wouldn't let most of the firemen in Salisbury deliver my dogs puppies, let alone my baby.
These fire weenies are super competitive when it comes to who got there first. They even go down as 1st engine, 2nd engine and so on to keep score. That and they need to pad their stats so they can use the inflated numbers when fund raising.
That said, we need them.
