Police in Anne Arundel County say one school’s resource officer uncovered three shotguns and alcohol inside of a student’s car Thursday.
According to police, the School Resource Officer assigned to Southern High School located in the 4400 block of Solomons Island Road in Harwood went to the school parking lot to assist school staff in searching the vehicle of the 17-year-old student around 9:30 a.m.
Police say the resource officer went to search the vehicle after a bottle of alcohol was discovered on school property the day before, and after school staff was able to identify the student who had the alcohol.

I graduated Pocomoke High in 1969. Back then it was not unusual for students to carry shotguns or rifles in their cars so we could go hunting before or after school. I remember one kid taking his rifle on the school bus so he could refinish the stock in shop class. Several of the teachers did the same and couple of times we went goose hunting together before school. Just try doing that now!
On school grounds after all the problems lately. Take the guns and bust them up side a tree take his driver licenses and send the kid home for being stupid. But he will be hugged and cuddled. Some incident kid will be punished instead for his t-shirt.
perfectly normal when I was in school
When I was in school in the late 70's we took our guns to school and cleaned them in shop to get ready for hunting season.
But you gave up those rights in the 50's to 60's didn't you? Happy now? in a few years under mandatory direction of the UN you will turn in all guns and you will still be crying.
724-Nobody gave up those rights, sorry Charlie.

I graduated from PHS as well and it was nothing for us to take our guns to school or have them in our cars. It was nothing to have a gun rack in the back window of our truck. Lord what is this country coming to.
"...police say. The weapons were also taken from his possession."
This is the part of the story that POs any true shooter/sportsman. Getting your gun back!
Law-enforcement makes it far, far too difficult for rightful owners to retrieve this sort of property. Yet, they want to stand up and defend "the right to bear arms".
It sickens me.
Also at PHS we would gather at the end door with the teachers every morning and all have a cigarette. Horror or horrors!
Because all of the "old timers" didn't fight back in the 80's, when they banned auto's, we have to watch as they pile it on. Thanks baby boomers! Enjoy your lack of retirement!
The problem now is that under our current and pending laws that kid will never be able to own/possess a firearm nor able to hunt with anything other than a biw & arrow
Well if he was good in school sports he will get a do over.
Illegal search.period. searched a car because the studebtvhad supposedly. Had liqour the day before . Search hmyes bu not his car
Everybody in school should have a gun or two. Then, no one would be dumb enough to start randomly shooting people!
