Another day full of EMS calls. Firefighters getting paid to sit around, sleep, wash their cars and joy ride in in the fire truck.

I find it hard to listen to the rants of a man who has no job criticize those who do. I'm sure the citizens who made those calls were happy that someone trained to help was there for them. Citizens call 911 for help and they always respond. Maybe few calls are a good thing Joe and your just looking at things wrong. I personally like the fact that Salisbury has somebody whether they are volunteer or paid when I need them.

There were more calls than that yesterday. We went on more fire calls than that.

Go ahead and get rid of the paid fire crew and you will have to double the pay to keep good ems.

They should have a paid "skeleton" crew at all times just to get the truck or ambulance out. Then the volunteers can respond & get whatever other equipment is needed. When I lived in NJ we had a completely volunteer fire dept. & ambulance corps. The police would arrive on scene first & let us know what was going on so we knew the situation. The system worked there, why not here?

Please feel free to give your keyboard a rest, pry yourself out of your chair, and stop in any day you would like at 06:30. Your welcome to stay and observe for as long as it would take for you to realize that there is very little sitting around, no sleeping until after 22:00, and its been a long time since I've seen anyone other than a volunteer member washing their car. I'll even bring some extra linen just in case you want to make it a sleep over. I can't wait to meet you Mr. Anonymous...

Not necessary, don't poke the bear. Just let his grumpy behind grumble.

That would be a great plan, if it would work. There are very few volunteers that can respond during the day. And sadly it's a small percentage that hold down the fort after midnight. So the majority on the roster are only available from 17:30-00:00. It would be easier to tell people to only call 911 between these hours if you want all volunteer coverage.

Funny how the Natural Cover fire, car fire, cardiac arrest, MVC, medical assist, and automatic fire alarm are conveniently deleted from the list?????

Great job SFD.

This information is taken directly from the Live Run Log from salisburyfd.com. If the information is incorrect on your website maybe you should contact the person in charge of the Live Run Log.

And I don't doubt you for a minute. That POS system works when it wants to. It will not text out some alerts immediately and others will come five days later.

Great job SFD/EMS Unit.NOT FD.

2:16 It seems like they were not "conveniently deleted from the list" they were not on the list at all. So either you are telling a lie or there is yet another thing at the SFD that the tax payers pay for that doesn't work!

Actually the CAD is handled by Wicomico central. Bark up their tree

First this is not NJ. Second we have already proven that police and EMS(paramedics) are overworked and underpaid.

Even if that was the case which one of those calls justifies having a paid fire crew around the clock 24/7?

NONE

Salisbury is not NJ, but volunteer fire departments in much larger cities all over the country do work and work well at a much lower cost to community.

710 pm. It is simple, see we all ride the fire trucks AND the ambulances. So take away the fire side and a majority will leave. There are better paying places like Icean City. So to keep good ems pay would have to go up.

You do not want trained personnel in a cardiac arrest?
