Dear Martin , Having been part of a medical group and in charge of advertising , I know that the public is fooled by these awards. It's all propaganda to get people to the hospital. This country is in trouble because of the media . The news it produces is ALWAYS 90% lies drama. The people are slowly becoming aware. Mr. Martin , you are also fooled by your own company.
A not for profit company , is not a non profit company. PRMC has a play with words that amounts to pure BS. We all know now what you are and what you stand for , too little too late.
PRMC The best hospital for it's size in Maryland, west of US 13, south of Main Street, east of Waverly Dr. & north of South Blvd. This should say what the awards are really all about with a more complete & true explanation.
Again an example of back pedaling after you get caught. There's not a single employee in the mgmt group worth the pay they receive......when compared to the pay scale for the working staff and nurses. This place is a nightmare.
These comments coming from a banker, no offense, but aren't they the least trusted people in America. Letters of awards, great words are only that. The reality is that this hospital is one of worst in the region, and the daily activities speak for themselves. Staff morale is easy to see everyday, and at night, the place goes wild. Fact of the matter Mr. Neat is part of the group has the gold so they set the rules. Nothing to see here, right?
What a bunch of BS Mr Neat! You as we can see are part of the problem not the solution. So, somebody had to come to the aid of this scandle which all of our community is aware of and you got chosen to put your name to these lies. Everyone knows that is so not true and those executives do not deserve what they are making....especially if the hospital is so much in trouble that they have to take the employees paid time off (valcation) which they have earned! And can someone address their insurance plan cause the employees insurance is really bad.
Marty should run for president with a line of BS like that..And you don't get points for running anything in the local Rag of a paper. Failed to explain the upcoming layoffs in conjunction with the big salaries..If your having layoffs still after forcing the rest out it says something about how you are running the place..You failed to save face with this sad enlightenment.
The Daily Rag sat down with PRMC and is doing a story. LOL! I know that will be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth - NOT! That article will not be anything close to the truth cause they always side with the hospital! So Jeremy Cox, you are damaging your reputation by doing this article FOR THEM!!!
It speaks volumes that the staff is so unhappy. Management is certainly doing something WRONG. Most thinking people I know tell their loved ones to take them to Baltimore if they get sick. Too much infection and other problems at PRMC. Not what it used to be at all.
This is a CYA from the BOARD. The people in this community called for the BOARD to stand up for the employees and this is their answer to that request. Again, they are lame and until they do their job, they can forget about putting out this propaganda to cover your A..
The best on the Eastern Shore of Maryland? If it was the best on the East Coast or in a 12 state contiguous region, that might be saying something. This is just plain silly.
Why don't all of you cry babies go back to school and earn a degree. You can then apply for the upper level jobs and GET PAID. But you won't do that, you will just waste you're time complaining on a blog instead of studying. You people must be 100% liberals. That's what liberals do.
Why don't they put out a letter explaining why their executives are paid lucrative salaries while the worker bees are suffering cuts, layoffs, early retirement and termination? Why doesn't Jeremy Cox do a story on that? Since PRMC wants to be above board how about putting ALL the cards on the table.
This case is a prime example of how the disparity of the distribution of salaries/wealth within most businesses on the Eastern Shore is unjustified due to Corruption and Greed, which is why there is a EXTREMELY high percentage of unemployment and people living in poverty in this area.
There are MANY similarities of corruption within PRMC among businesses in Ocean City as well. The selfish and greedy business owners far outnumber the selfless owners who possess Integrity and CHANGE in a Positive direction is in desperate need in our area.
9:06 - I agree. PRMC is pretty much the only large hospital on MD's Eastern Shore, so while it may be the "Best" - it is also the WORST!
Compare PRMC to large hospitals on MD's Western Shore and let's see how PRMC ranks on the list. I have a strong feeling they would be ranked nowhere near the "Best", but as the WORST.
Quit all the griping. You all have jobs unlike many of us and you will never be in a position where someone doesn't make more money that you. Let the complainers take the McDonalds jobs and let us have theirs.
These are in no way the questions that employees want to know. And if they think the measley raise they gave is going to passify they are sadly mistaken.
We are PROTESTING against the Unjustified, Immoral, and Unethical CORRUPTION that is taking place at PRMC.
Their so-called "Upper Execs" are infected with more Cancer than all of the patients combined in the hospital, and the Cancer needs to be cured and removed in order for our area to have a REPUTABLE hospital like MD's Western Shore has.
That Marty Neat used to be on the board of our Humane Society years ago.He knows all to well how to do a CYA. He also used to work for some elected official who , I guess, taught him well.
9:09 I have a degree and could do a much much better job than is being done now. But.....I would not think about accepting a salary like that and then taking away from the people that do the work. When Doris Hammond, Edie Johnson, Doris Taylor and Mr jacobs was there it was a family and they would have given up their job for their employees. They appreciated and cared about the staff and the hospital. This bunch only cares about their paycheck and power!!!
Where do all these "best" awards and rankings come from? They should be asking the local community how satisfied they are with PRMC and see where they rank then.
The CEO at PRMC made a tad over $15,000 per WEEK with her salary. Staff layoffs? Taking personal days from the staff? If ole Marty Mar thinks this is good management, close your first shore federal accounts fast before they go under!
Oh, to have Mrs Doris Taylor or Edie Johnson back! Those were the days where we felt we were appreciated, when we were treated with respect. Now, I come to work and am greeted by the neo nazis who are constantly telling us what we are doing wrong, how we can work harder and harder, and by the way, you have lost two days of vacation and you need to go home early. Don't have the PTO? Too bad, so sad. Peggy Naleppa is running the place into the ground.
marty is a master at getting his point across. He is a huge liberal .He has managed norm conaway's campaign for years and you remember how norm screwed all of us with the teacher pension shift. My issue is not with her pay its with the cloak of a non profit that bugs me. PRMC has bought most private drs in this community and control most others. They should be made to pay taxes like all other businesses.
I am completely independant doctor and PRMC does not control me at all. I do find it disturbing that so many doctors have become employees of the hospital... giving up autonomy. Between TLC and PRMC a significant percentage are hog tied to corporations.
My copy of Drucker's "Management: Tasks-Responsibilities-Practices" is 839 pages long. Chances that any PRMC manager has waded it through it are slim; if they have a copy it is being used as a doorstop.
Most management ideas they run with come via consultants and industry groups. In other words, they just parrot what is being tried elsewhere, for a fee.
That is true of many of the awards that are touted by all of the hospitals. The parameters of the surveys are drawn to include customers. Ask for the list of surveys where they didn't fare so well. Doesn't mean they are not actually doing well in some/many areas; just that most surveys are BS from the get-go.
Composition of the Board changes over time but the last three (3) presidents have operated as little tin gods at the expense of the institution.
The most recent retiree had their spouse on payroll for a period of time as an interior decorator, at a salary above many RN department managers. That ended after a hue and cry, but is indicative of the entitled mindset.
The emergency room at PRMC is the worst!!!!!!! They keep changing their work processes at the ER but the results are always the same. Sick/hurt people are waiting hours in the lobby waiting to be seen, while whole sections of the ER (rooms) are closed. The PA's, and some of the nurses are back there laughing, eating, dating, etc. all the while, the sick are hurting and not being cared for. They tout themselves as the best, and all the awards, it is the results that count not the material visible displays which can be bought at most stores.
The sheer carelessness, and cavalier attitude of the staff and management at PRMC is disgusting. People are dying over there and people are lying on guneys waiting for help and no one comes to help them WHY?????
I have been given wrong medicines, wrong treatment, and left to go home with broken bones when the ER PA said I just had a sprain! Get real this place is a complete mess. There is no real leadership or manangement going on at PRMC just a great place to kiss ass and make some bucks for the management.
I have gone over the bridge to be treated and when the doctors I have seen always agree that PRMC isn't effective with treatment and many of the doctors are practicing behind times because of the older demographic. It makes me sick. These so-called professionals sell out the real people they are sworn to heal purely for greed and nothing more. Corrupt is too good a word for them!
I never tell people to let PRMC operate on them, or treat them. Go to Baltimore, or Annapolis for great healthcare, but don't go to PRMC only if you want to get very, very sick or die for their carelessness.
We on the Eastern Shore are truly the forgotten ones. May GOD help us all!
I found Mr. Neat's statement/explanation to be a desperate attempt to justify this unequal situation. I previously would tell folks that Marty and First Shore Federal were honest and caring people and practiced good community banking practices in conjunction with promoting strong community standards. After reading this information, I will no longer promote Marty or First Shore Federal and I will be removing my accounts from this banking institution as soon as possible. I'd like to say this to Marty: "Marty, you have let the community down in a big way especially in these troubling economic times. You should reconsider your position on this issue and do what is right for our community. You're a good man but it appears your judgment, or lack thereof, is seriously clouded. This hospital claims to be representative of the community it serves but we now know this is not the case. Do the right thing, please."
Having worked at PRMC for 14 years as a c.n.a,l.p.n. and r.n. maybe Peggy and the board can answer these questions that I and the community at large have: 1. How and why did PRMC recently lose their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) certification? Neonates now must be sent to certified hospitals if they meet criteria. 2. Why does the "Trauma Center" send so many of their trauma patients to Baltimore for trauma care? 3. Why was the trauma center placed on probation several years ago. 4. Why are beds closed on the floors and in the emergency room? At times there are up to 15 e.r. beds closed due to staffing issues? More rooms on the floors closed. Why? 5. When I first started the emergency room census was 60,000 visits per year. Now it close to 90,000 visits per year. Less beds open and less staff now. Why? Maybe we should see less staff in Capri pants and painted toenails and more in scrubs with stethoscopes.
Thank you 6:03 pm you mirrored some of my comments especially regarding the ER.
I remember a time when nurses actually looked like nurses.
Recently I had to be taken to the ER (not my idea) and one of the ER nurses scared me to death. I thought she was some drug-crazed person pretending to be a nurse. She had so many tatoos and piercings that I thought it was disgusting and certainly she represented a poor image of a nurse. Patients should have to wonder who or what they are being treated by. The ONLY professional person I saw the entire night was the very kind gentleman in the x-ray department who realized the extent of my injuries and picked me up himself and moved me to help keep my pain level from increasing. He was really my angel that night and a blessing to me. The smart mouth, ill-tempered PA who treated me (if you can say that he did any treatment) was terrible. Rude, demeaning, and just plain nasty!
All in all, the treatment (which was so poor one couldn't call it treatment), the wait time, and the general I don't give a damn attitude was hardly worthy of a hospital but I forget, PRMC is the best right????? I believe I would have stood a better chance in a small backwoods country doctor's office than I did at the area's best award-winning, so-called hospital. I apologize to all the wonderful small backwoods country doctor's because you really do look out for your patients something PRMC has certainly forgotten.
Do Board of Trustees receive any compensation/incentive/perks (except for the linen lunch meeting) for their time of torture? What is the pre-requisite for a member? Why wouldn't a board consist of equal amount of employees & community members?
Oh did I tell you they treated my family member/ for chickenpox ... Sent her home .... When in fact 1 week later she found out from a friend pediatrician she had POISION IVY. .. P. S. she was 48 years old. She was 5 weeks recovering , because of the misdiagnosis at PRMC.
Recently, I was rushed to the E.R. at PRMC with severe chest pains. The ambulance crew started an IV along with the necessary cardiac drugs. After arrival at the hospital, I was evaluated and told that I was going to be admitted to a cardiac bed as soon as one was available. The nurse removed the IV that the ambulance crew started and she started another one at another site because she was not happy with the location of the original stick. After starting the IV I was told to relax until my room was available. Since I was in one of the private rooms they turned off the overhead lights and closed the door to the cubical. They did not give me a button to push in case there was a problem. After about 30 minutes my arm where the new IV was started began severely hurting. After suffering for a period of time, I just started yelling, "can anyone out there here me?" After another period of time someone walking by the unit heard me calling for help. She came in and asked what the problem was, (WITHOUT TURNING ON THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS) and I fold her that something was wrong with my arm where the new IV was started. She tells me she will get someone to check on it. Several minutes go by and I just start yelling "get me some help - please." Finally another nurse came in and turned on the lights - and I told her that there was a problem. She looked at it and told me she would have the doctor look at it. My arm was swelling up so fast that you actually see it blowing up and fire engine red in color. Another few minutes go by and yet another nurse comes into the room. I told her that I had waited far too long to get some attention to my arm and the pain I was in, to either immediately remove the IV or I would (if I had to call someone in to take it out). She then calls the doctor (yes, he flunked the "How to Win Friends and Influence People" part of his education) who finally tells them to remove it. My arm hurt for over 2 weeks - and the swelling took that long to subside. Yes, ladies and gentlemen this is one of America's Top 100 Hospitals. I would hate to see the Worst 100.
The sad fact about poor treatment is not just prmc problem. I 'am not a fan of theirs, so get that straight right off the bat. They push these scoundrels through nurses school ,and you see what you get. I remember when nurses looked like nurses and were polite. hey wore uniforms and didn't text on their phones when they were supposed to be doing patient care. This is rampant everywhere, lack of respect .America has lost its moral compass and its getting worse.
folks it is not just prmc and just wait till Obama care kicks in. We haven't seen nothing yet.The care will have to suffer more for them to maintain those salaries. Think about it. nothing will change. We have become to complacent. Look at our entire country it is going down the tubes fast. We talk a lot but do nothing to change it. Sorry, just the truth.
Folks, believe me when I tell you, first hand- patient care and safety is being compromised at PRMC. I can't go into a lot of detail, because I could lose my job. I witnessed something today that I would not have believed had I not heard it with my own ears. It is not about the patient anymore. So very sad:(
The "awards" are purchased. There isn't anything genuine about them. Oh and by the way...ask yourself this..."who is Marty Neat's next door neighbor on Riverside?". You WON'T be surprised with the answer. This place is screwed up on so many levels.
The Cardiovascular Surgeons are turning down patients for open heart surgery if they think they won't survive. The reason is because their reimbursement rate will be affected. Don't get me wrong, I know that every patient is not a candidate, but some patients who would have had a chance either way a few months ago will never have a chance now.
I am an embarrassed employee. I have worked at PRMC for many years. No job or employer is perfect. Many people we know are struggling to cope with this economy. Many rumors are being spread but it is true that our administration has lost touch with their employees and sadly with our community. Sadly it is coming with a high cost to those of us who still care about the kind of care we deliver and to our community who depends on us. So much effort wasted on consultants and so little time listening to the people who do the job...
Say a prayer for the LPN's ... Apparently PRMC don't want them anymore.. Not Magnet status... Interesting though.. Those who have the higher degree's can't manage their way out of a box.. It keeps on getting better and better?????NOT!!
I think the powers that be should ask for Dr naleppas resignation!!! She has done nothing for this hospital but take it under!!! She should be ashamed of herself and what she has done to loyal employees! Bruce patterson was getting ready to retire and they hired Rick sanders to take his place , however when the date came mr Sanders did not meet the criteria so they hired Tom Anderson !!! So two people are in the same position making big bucks!!! So, what gives!!! The moral in the hospital is terrible, seeing people crying!!! That looks really good to our guests and families!
Its a disgrace to the community as to how its being run. You got some of the finest nurses ever there and cna's. I happen to of had a family full of nurses that was employed and still are there. I'm pretty proud of that but the hospital really needs to be a shamed of what their doing to their finest. Karma!!
Setting here eating and still hearing people being let go... I think enough is enough!!!!! Hopefully these nurses left can get some peace and quiet..and let them work without worry!!!!

Thanks Joe! It still doesn't address the rumor that they have better insurance than everyone else!
Sounds to me like a lot of truths have been told and now they are in recovery mode.

It's pretty simple. If you have to release a 2 1/2 page letter to your employees explaining that your CEO is not overpaid, then your CEO is overpaid.

PRMC should can FoolABOUT and hire Fineran, who really knows how to spoon feed pure BS to the buffoons at the Daily Times.
Joe --
Please put this post at the top all day tomorrow. Its now buried under trivia.
Having worked at PRMC for 14 years as a c.n.a,l.p.n. and r.n. maybe Peggy and the board can answer these questions that I and the community at large have:

Maybe we should see less staff in Capri pants and painted toenails and more in scrubs with stethoscopes.

What happened to the Daily Times article? It's not in Sunday's paper as expected.
anonymous 10:27, very good question.
Our understanding was that it would be in Monday's paper
Joe: Looks like you scared the Daily Slime from trying to defend PRMC.
Mr. Neat:
Better get your man FoolABOUT to ask "management guru Peter Drucker" what happened to the Daily Times propaganda piece that you promised us!
Wonder what B.S. reason they will give us for the article not being in today's paper???
So very sad:(
12:45 please elaborate! Don't leave us hanging
9:57 The same place the Metropolitan gets theirs .....they buy them!!
Short staffed, and don't dare ask for help from another area.
125 awards in 5 years? Do they hire somebody just to apply for awards?
Now what! Closing of TCU! What goes Dr Peggy?
