The Department of Education said it plans to investigate a “Redneck Day” held at an Arizona high school over charges from civil rights activists that it created hostile school environment.
The “Redneck Day” event at Queen Creek High School took place in May, and was meant to satirize A&E’s popular “Duck Dynasty” reality series, The Arizona Republic reported. After one student wore a Confederate flag, a local pastor called on the Department of Education to investigate any racial discrimination within the school.
“I found it to be offensive,” Rev. Jarrett Maupin told azfamily.com. “I think many in the community did and the department responded.” According to the Arizona Daily Independent, Maupin was sentenced to five years of probation in 2009 for making a false report to the FBI.

I find NAACP very offensive. I doubt anything will be done about that.
Although I admit its a stretch to get DOE involved (don't you have bigger fish to fry?), I'm still perplexed by why people don't seem to understand that the confederate flag was flown for the side that was just about as anti-constitution and freedom as you can get. It's like an al queda flag is just showing pride in muslim heritage.
"I wasn't there...but I found it offensive."
Are they looking into the "hoodie" days that some schools had?
It's time to take back our country!
Since when does a Confederate Battle Flag become racial discrimination?
You people that feel that way are idiots.
"the confederate flag was flown for the side that was just about as anti-constitution and freedom as you can get." Can you explain? Just because you say it is so does not make this statement accurate. How do you explain the actions of the North in terms of the constitution or freedom?

I am perplexed by pure idiots that have no clue about the Confederate Battle Flag and it's history. You should have stayed in high school and learned your history. Comparing it to an Al queda flag is very offensive.

I read that in your earlier post. Can you Ask Abe Lincoln about your post. He was acting then as Obammie is acting today.
Long live the South!!
What amazes me is people in Maryland and Delaware flying the confederate flag and acting as if it is their heritage. Neither state joined the confederacy. As a true southerner I am offended by northern wannabes.
749-You should know your history, the Eastern Shore was a confederate hotbed.
IF THIS FLAG OFFENDS YOU, then YOU NEED A HISTORY LESSON!!
Neither the design nor the content have anything to do with racism, slavery, hatred or white supremacy...All the COLOR could be removed from this flag, leaving just the outline of the details, and the true message the design is sending could still be determined by anyone with a basic knowledge of history and an ounce of common sense.
First of all, this flag is NOT the "Confederate Flag." It is the "Battle Flag of Northern Virginia." This design, however, is the one most synonymous with the term, and the one used in various forms on many of the other flags that were flown by the Confederate States. It is also the one most hated by those who are completely and totally ignorant of what it stands for.
The stars are laid out in the pattern of the cross of St. Andrew, and the blue bands are put on the thirteen stars to show that the southern states no longer wanted to be a part of the union with the northern states. In simpler terms, the message of flag's design is simply this... CROSS US OUT of your Union! The southern states withdrew from the union in a movement called "secession," which led to the Civil War.
That is the only message this flag is sending!
yeah 1016, that message:
"Leave us alone so we can continue to strip humans away from their basic freedoms in our pursuit of profit"
Civil war was about the confederate suceeding from the north..a constiutional right..11:33 is right....lincoln went to war to bring the south back..the south had a constitutional right to become a seperate nation...slavery was the catalyst but not the reason...
