You Make The Call 6-3-13

Sunday 7:10 PM

There was a Salisbury Fire call on the scanner for a “boat in distress” in the Wicomico River at Marker #60. I don’t remember where 60 is, but I think it is up river, “in town.” Is Salisbury using their million dollar fire boat and paid firefighters to tow boaters in?

Inquisitive minds want to know!

Who cares? A boat in distress, car in distress, house in distress? That's what fire departments do.

Why don't these weak minds call the firehouse & ask the question?

They don't have anything else to do , so why not.
If #60 were out in the bay , they would still go. Wouldn't miss anything in Salisbury , maybe a cat in a tree or something stupid.
The farmen told me they would love to see a far just to find out what it looks like.

Joe I was going to let you know about this same thing I heard on the scanner. Station 3 Fruitland Fire Department and Station 16 fire boat was dispatched for a boater in distress. That boater in distress was broken down, out of fuel or something of the sort. This was not an emergency. Not only was it ridiculous to dispatch a million dollar fire boat to tow some idiot's boat there were fire trucks flying through town with lights and sirens on trying to get to the million dollar emergency. I may be wrong, but I don't think they even got the million dollar fire boat out of the slip. This call should have never been dispatched as an emergency. If that boat owner dialed 911 because he just needed a tow then he should be locked up for 911 abuse. The 911 dispatchers at Wicomico 911 should be written up and disciplined if not fired for dispatching that call as an emergency. The supervisors at the Salisbury Fire Department should be disciplined for allowing the fire trucks to respond to the marina in an emergency mode. This is absolutely ridiculous and should not have happened. Not only was this ridiculous this wasn't even a call in Salisbury's fire district. Big Mistake!!

gotta use it for something. and a boat in distress can be at a multiple array of things. why don't you just for once just once quit complaining about the firefighters on here. why don't you complain about the Salisbury please department buying Elrad systems. or using a speed camera money in appropriately for other things according to what they said they would use it for.

Does the city evevn have a Captian to run the fire boat?

Actually Salisbury wasn't dispatched for this call... Fruitland (station 3) and Allen (station 15) were dispatched for it

Negatory Big Ben! Station 3 and Salisbury were alerted. Station 15 Allen was alerted after Salisbury's Far Boat scratched and couldn't get enough people that new how to operate the boat to take it out.

For that area of the wicomico river I believe stations 3 fruitland,16 salisbury and 15 allen are due initially for any type of water emergency. I can't comprehend why someone would complain about salisbury fd doing the job that they are paid to do. was anyone that has previously commented actually on the vessel that was in distress? I doubt it... so you don't know what type of emergency was actually happening on the vessel to begin with.
