Matt Birk Skips White House Event

Matt Birk skipped Wednesday's White House visit because he disagrees with the president over Planned Parenthood.

"I have great respect for the office of the presidency but about five or six weeks ago, our president made a comment in a speech when he said 'God Bless Planned Parenthood' and Planned Parenthood performs about 330,000 abortions a year and I am a Catholic, I am active in the pro-life movement and I just felt like I couldn't - I couldn't deal with that," he said. "I couldn't endorse that in any way and I was very confused by that statement. For God to bless a place where they are ending 330,000 lives a year so I chose not attend."

Great stand, Matt! *sarcasm*

This religious crap goes way too far. So hypocritical... a religion that doesn't approve of abortion, but advocates child molestation. Makes perfect sense, they want them alive, so they can abuse them.

Good for him.....it's good to see there are some people left in America with guts.

Put himself in the "cross hairs" with the IRS!

Guess he will now be classified as one of Ob's "enemies".

'Religious crap" or not, this is America.! He is entitled to his beliefs and opinions. At least he is honest and forthright about it, and doesn't knuckle under for the dubious honor of meeting "the President" (actually no big deal considering Ob's other "visitors").

8:38 your are an idiot. Get off the couch in your parents basement and go get a job. He stands by his principles and I agree with him. P*ss on Obama.

You are a very sad individual.
It is the mind sets such as yours which has allowed our country to become so degraded that we may never recover. In fact, I surmise that makes you very pleased. "religious crap"?... If you would please study just what as you term "religious crap" might really be, you might become enlightened. "religious crap" has its foundations that we as humans are imperfect.. in an imperfect world. Giving up on a desire and goal to become a better person (I will leave out any "religious crap")will keep you in the sorry state of affairs and self-righteous mind-set you most likely have today. If you REALLY read what I am writing, you know exactly what I am saying.
"Religious crap" does offer forgiveness and a renewed start in life. Take the offer.
If you will not then..again.. you are a very sad individual.

It's ok, he just has head injuries from playing football.

This is not news, he only has himself to answer to.

No one with a functioning brain and an ounce of good taste would want to step foot in the white house with the ghetto freeloaders living there.

I disagree with his stance on abortion, but admire his resolve and the way he is sticking up for his principles.

9:46 You're right, I am an idiot... I chose to move to MD where I'm surrounded by taxes, and people who write "your are..." Thanks for reminding me, and adding to the stereotype. Also, my parents never owned a basement, and I left their house at 18 to buy my own. Thanks for being concerned though. ;)

9:49 Yeah, I'm not too fond of religious beliefs. And I tried to "take the offer" several times throughout my life, only to be greeted with the true colors of the church and people who embody it. The greed and corruption was worse than any government could dream of (although, Obama and O'Malley are giving it a run for the ages). I sat back, put my nose in "the book", only to look up and see a preacher with greed in his eyes, preying on money and children. It happens far to often, but gets swept under the rug, and "forgiven" (as you would say)

Forgive me for stating my opinion, I will try and tone down my distaste for religion, as a whole. Good day.

11:34 your problem with religion is that you focused on mans word and actions, and not on what the scripture says. We are all sinners and all have our own faults. That's why it's important to have a personal relationship with god. Just you and his word.

As I said earlier, you are a very sad individual.

1:38.. you said it so correctly!

Good for Matt Birk. Any couple that thinks abortion is a form of birth control should be hit in the head with hammer. Some young women have had over ten abortions in this county. U can get birth control for free. WTF get real it is abused by those who continue to abuse and live free. Like the chump in Fla. with 22 kids. We all foot that bill. To all you liberals pack up and move to France. Take a look at what shape they are in lol. There has to be rules and consequences or man will destroy all that is good.

Religion is all about controlling people. Birk shows that he is a robot who does as they church says.
