NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans police say at least 19 people either attending or taking part in a Mother's Day second-line parade in the 7th Ward were wounded in a shooting.
Original reports had the number at a dozen people injured at the Original Big 7 Second Line, but that has since been upped to 19 -- ten men, seven women, a 10-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl.
Police say many of the victims suffered graze wounds, including the two young victims. There have been no fatalities, and police say most of the injuries are non-life threatening. Two people were in surgery.

I'll just say one thing. In a crowd of 500 to 600 with a right to carry,
1) This never would have happened. Believe that. Instant death penalty on the spot. Carry open or concealed.
2)The expense of the "investigation" will be astronomical; save 50% on cop salaries and retirement bennies for unneeded manpower.
If there were more guns there would be more people shot. In this case I'd say it goes deeper than the gun debate.
I've got to disagree with 1:38 AM. You try pulling a gun in a crowd of 600 armed citizens and try to get to 19 without injury. I dare you!
lol, I'm all for gun rights, but 924 it sounds like you're advocating for a recipe for mass chaos. Can you imagine the melee that would insue once multiple shots started being fired. Who's to say the 2nd shooter going after the original shooter wouldn't then be mistaken for the instigator of the entire incident and end up being shot at himself. Do you think 2nd shooter is then not going to turn his weapon on shooter #3, #4, or #5?

Wow, there's a lot of ignorant people out there I didn't know existed! 8:24 am wants to let the shooter shoot as many as he wants in the hope that he only wants to shoot one, and will not become a second death from other armed citizens! 952, No, they will not. But it is our job to stand ready to minimize the damage when it does happen with a good guy with a gun on site, and mental health help for all without the threat of infringement of our rights.
