I wanted to copy and paste this story as a reminder that we ALL need to be cautious in parking lots. Despite the immediate care this child received by two nurses who were there with their families at the park and the quick response by EMS personnel, this child did not survive. It was indeed a tragic, horrible accident. I can't even begin to put into words how the family or the driver of the vehicle is even coping.
Earlier today I was at Walmart and watched multiple individuals on the phone, people texting, people speeding etc. It seems like any more we have tunnel vision. If we all just take a few extra seconds and be aware of surroundings maybe a tragedy like this could be avoided in the future. Life can change in an instant. Hopefully this will serve as a reminder to us all.
FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police say a toddler was hit by a car in a parking lot Saturday afternoon.
State police responded to Heritage Farm Park before 5 p.m. Troopers say the toddler was able to exit the passenger side rear door of the vehicle prior to the father, Sten J. Olsson, getting her out and proceeded to run away from their vehicle. Simultaneously a 2011 Honda Pilot driven by Kathleen L. Heister, 42, was driving through the parking lot. According to authorities, she made a left turn towards the exit when she heard a bump - the toddler ran into the driver's side of the Honda and fell to the ground. She pulled over right away, realizing she had run over the child.
Police say the toddler was taken to the hospital.

Hail Mary full of grace...
sad...ban cars b/c they contribute to hot days like we have today.
Sad, But I hold the parents responsible!!!! Teach and Disciplne your children and be responsible and things like this wouldn't occur so much!!! Hope the child is ok!
My Ford Escape has rear safety locks on it so the kids can't the doors from the inside. I am thinking that many people don't know that. Parents with young kids check to see if your car has those locks. Many of them can be found on the inside of the rear door jams.
Here's a question - If the child was a toddler, as the article states: Was the child in a car seat?!
3:53 if you had finished reading you would know that the child didn't survive. You are quick to blame the parents without knowing the circumstances. You don't know if the person that hit the child was speeding texting or anything else. Older cars don't have child proof locks on the rear doors. It was a park kids get excited to be their. RIP baby.
God takes the souls that He needs when He needs them. We are not in charge. There is that moment where you never imagine it was possible, but it still happens. R.I.P. Nelson, 1 week before three in the pool. I still love my Savior.

Here's another, did the child know how to release himself from any such child seat?
And another, does anyone have any compassion for PEOPLE anymore, or is it all about stupid laws and assessing blame?
I know, let's pass ANOTHER law. One of these days we might find one that WORKS.
Friends of mine knew this family.
This little girl was two years old and loved dearly by her family. She was adopted and was the sunshine in this family's life. Children of all ages are quick and many are certainly able to click their way out of their car seats as soon as the car is stopped. She was eager to see her big brother (he was playing lacrosse, I believe). This little bundle of energy will definitely missed.
