Overall, Maryland’s gaming industry ranked No. 17 in 2012 for consumer spending among 23 states with casinos. State casinos last year generated $377.81 million, placing it just behind Florida ($427.9 million) and immediately in front of Kansas ($341.15 million).
Maryland’s total, however, makes it the second fastest-growing state in the U.S. for consumer spending on casino gaming. The state grew last year at a rate of 142.6 percent, placing it behind Kansas at 603.7 percent.

Total hype. When you Legalize gambling and open more casinos, people will try them and your "growth rate" will go up. The states (Nevada) who did not increase the number of gambling ports because it has always been legal there, grow/shrink with the economy.

When the Mafia runs a numbers game, they go to prison. When the State runs the numbers racket, they refer you to Gamblers Anonymous. And get bonuses. It's either wrong or it isn't. Doesn't matter who's doing it. At least thats the theory. Politicians (each and every one of them scum - NO exceptions) apparently have a different view of criminal enterprises....
Imclain, One thing The Cop and the Criminal both have one thing in common, and I have held this for years to be true; They both are required to have criminal minds to do their jobs.
I'm thinking maybe this extends to politicians of today as well.
