The "Mock Crash" has been one of the greatest collaborations between The Wicomico Co. Board of Ed. and The Wicomico Co. Sheriff’s Office. For years I have attended with my students and staff conveying the dangers of drinking and driving. However, in later years I have noticed that something has been missing from the event. Call it depth of feeling, or personalization, I can’t put my finger on it. The Sheriff’s Office has done a wonderful job in presenting this to our students and it has been nice to see familiar faces in the uniforms, but I have to admit and say when Jason Chance, Brian Donohue, Jeff Melvin, and Vince Page of The Sheriff’s Office ran the show the feeling was so much more personal and meaningful to our students and staff.

Maybe they should also include a speaker or 2 who's family members perished in a crash or have been disabled for life due to a crash. It's not all about drugs or drinking or even cell phones. Sometimes it's just about being you & not paying attention.
