Maryland Regulators Begin Hearing Pepco Rate Case

Maryland utility regulators say they have set aside 10 days to hear a rate increase request from Pepco.

Testimony before the Maryland Public Service Commission begins Monday and runs through Friday. Four more days are scheduled next week and the final day is April 29.

Pepco asked the commission late last year for an increase that would add about $7 a month to the average residential bill. The utility also asked to impose a surcharge of about $1 a month starting in 2014.

People have been calling me all month about saving money compared to PEPCO. Problem is that I live in Delaware. I guess there are opportunities for everyone out there.

Since normal consumers don't have the means to bribe their "leaders", I'm adding these "public service" entities to the "hang them fast and in bunches" list. Have you looked at your latest cable or electric bill lately? They'd have to add another page if they want to put MORE fees, surcharges, taxes, and "impact" fees. Now, they want $7 more from each and every consumer? And ANOTHER $1 surcharge, too? I suppose Homeland Security will start buying up all the rope now....
