I'm A Little Bit Country, You're A Little Bit Black: Brad Paisley and LL Cool J's 'Accidental Racist'

Good news everyone: We solved racism. We can all can go home now. That whole "black and white" thing? Fuhgeddaboudit. Thanks to Brad Paisley and LL Cool J, we're finally greeting the brave new dawn of a post-racial United States. While the rest of Americans were busy either hauling tail in their F-150s to Alabama concerts, or shopping the top spring collections of gold chains and do-rags, leave it to the "Country Singer" and "the Rapper" to heal our country's centuries-old wounds in the course of a song. If that sounded as stupefyingly reductive as the title of this article, read on; it all pales in comparison to Paisley and Mr. Ladies Love's new song, "Accidental Racist."

Paisley's latest record, "Wheelhouse," may have only came out today, but he's already one of the most talked-about modern country artists of the year. Of course, most of that attention is for all the wrong reasons. Specifically, his race baiting single with rapper LL Cool J, "Accidental Racist," which imagines a hypothetical conversation between a proud "White Man comin' from the Southland" and a "Black Yankee" in a Starbucks.More

No one ever judges a black man's do rag, but EVERYONE judges the red flag. The Confederate Battle Flag has been judged by blacks and hypocrites for over 30 years now. It is just that, a battle flag and a piece of American history.

Everyone has already forgotten Brads' Grand Ole Opry incident, where from on stage he invited Darius Rucker to be a Opry member. No talking it over with anyone before he did it or getting a vote of approval,he just up and did it.A member has to invite another person to be a member.Regardless if that person is black or white,a consensus among the Administration is generally required. However, after it occurred, any motion to reverse the membership would be viewed as racist.

Swastikas are a piece of German history. Guess it's OK to wear a shirt with one of those on it to show your "German pride?"

Don't be so stupid. Southerners didn't kill millions of people.

316-30 years? No, we've been criticizing that flag since we beat that southern *ss. It's not American history.

316 "No one ever judges a black man's do rag"

Thats laughable. I've got a PhD and earn more than the median US income. Guarantee I'll be looked at as a "thug" the moment I walk down the street in baggy jeans and a doo rag. lol

630 "Southerners didn't kill millions"

No, they just enslaved, raped, rob, and terrorized millions for the majority of this country's history. Not that I have anything against southerners, I'm from NC. But it was worth pointing out the obvious.

You don't be stupid. Southerners not only killed millions of Africans on the dreaded Middle Passage and in the cotton fields, they also enslaved them. The effects were just spread out over hundreds of years, not 6-10 like the Nazis. Read a book.

3:22. What exactly is the issue with Brad inviting Darius Rucker to become a member of the Opry. Rucker is a very successful country singer. Please explain.

3:22-Everything has a proper procedure. The Opry has rules and regulations just like any other business. When a member decides to go rogue & make their own decisions without consulting with the governing body, consequences arise as a result,as they would in any other business.Brad and Darius worked out this agreement between themselves prior to the show.Brad was on stage,Darius in the audience.Brad announced that DR was in the audience.DR stood up and the audience applauded.BP then personally invited him to be an Opry member of his own valition. As hard as it is for you to understand why that was not proper procedure,it was not proper procedure. You will not read in any news source that Opry Admin was upset about it,because they did not wish to be labeled racist. They too wanted DR to be a member, but on their terms and under their conditions.
