Speed Camera Bill Would End 'Bounty System'

Senators passed and sent to the House in Annapolis a measure that would eliminate the so-called "bounty system" for speed cameras.

The bill requires jurisdictions that use cameras to clock speeds in school and construction zones to pay the vendor a strict flat rate rather than allow expenses to be calculated on the number of tickets issued.

Jurisdictions get a portion of each $40 fine as the contracts stand now.

The camera and speed sensor do not discriminate like police.
It does indeed take away human error and or emotion.
And no quota's.

Based on the accuracy issues - the stopped speeding car - they should eliminate them altogether.

Don't forget...a human programmed the machines, therefore human error is likely, especially if the programmer works for the vendor/owner of the machines

police dont have quotas

10:23 And no "machine" has every malfunctioned? Have you heard of Apple?

If you get a camera ticket, subpeona the camera to court. Just like a trooper has to be present for you to be found guilty by the judge, the same should be extended to the "camera".

Can I pick up the phone and order one of these cameras for my front yard? I here that the private contractor who owns it will set it up and operate it AND cut me in on the profits! I'll buy that.

These cameras should be banned. The one by North Salisbury Elementary is no where near when any students walk. It is up the street purposefully positioned to maximize fines not to keep children safe.

In court it is totally fixed. There is no way to test the cameras independly. In fact they were all bad right here in Salisbury for a full month. They had to throw all the tickets out.

These cameras are a total scam.

Cops DO have "quotas" and EVERY COP KNOWS IT. They don't call them quotas. They call it writing as many violations as the gung-ho storm tropper of the year does.... If HE can write 300 tickets a month, YOU better damn sure be able to write that many, too. Or be accused of failing to see all the laws being broken that the other cops see. And have your ability or commitment questioned. Cops, who know the truth, think they are reassuring us by saying "we don't have quotas". And DHS isn't preparing for a civil war, either, huh?

I was sent a ticket for 60 mph! There's NO WAY I was doing that in town! I just don't do that! These things are broken, and need to go.

9:02pm The one at Pemberton Road was off kilter and I called my county representative, Stevie Prettyman, and she set up a meeting with the Sheriff and the camera organization. Turned out there was a flaw during the week I received a ticket.

Cops have quota's. A senior ranking cop already had admitted that years ago. Delaware if I'm not mistaken.

And a DSPT told me his bosses tell them they figure he could write a ticket every hour, or he wasn't doing his job.

Cops are some of the biggest liars in society. Always have been. We can more easily catch them in lies now than in the past.

So go tape something over the glass window. Even if you get caught, what jury would convict you?
