OCEAN CITY -- As City Manager David Recor holds private talks with members of the Ocean City Fire Department (OCFD) this month, Fire Chief Chris Larmore has made it clear he is not worried about what his superior is going to hear from his personnel.
With questions continuing to abound about general operations with the OCFD and at least two internal investigations being conducted -- one by the city’s labor law firm, Miles & Stockbridge, and another less formal one by Recor and Human Resources Director Wayne Evans -- Larmore is endorsing the city manager’s decision to meet privately with staff members under his domain without command staff present.
“That originated from a staff meeting [back in January]. I invited Mr. Recor to that meeting. I and my command staff have nothing to hide. David made a comment at that meeting that he is very much into an open management form of government and that he reaches out to all the employees of the town of Ocean City. He said he wanted to let everybody know we are all here together as a team,” Larmore said. “What started as a simple introduction of sorts somewhere has been misconstrued that we are going to go out to the firehouses, and we are going to fix problems and hear something.”

I've followed this pretty closely on other blogs and what I see is a very small number of individuals (1?) who advanced his GED education to maybe 2 years of "something" and thinks he should be a CEO of something. I see this pretty much as a bad apple spoiling the basket and the Town should simply transfer him to a bus driving job under the condition he is able to earn a CDL through training. Belonging to a Union doesn't give people to question their management outside of company channels through the press.
Who cares about any of this? Seems like a lot of navel gazing.

Which 1 person are you referring to? Not sure where you are going with this?
Here's the deal, look at the facts, not the innuendos folks. The union wants a union chief, they cant control this one. He (like him or not) has put the cards on the table, simply put, get past the B.S., and state what he has done wrong. State what is unreasonable. So, he doesn't allow the union, or the "old club" to sleep through calls, take off in the summer, and he promotes a qualified candidate, regardless of race, gender etc. Stop with the BS, state what he has done wrong .................. not your "morale and dissatisfaction", so you have to provide the citizens a fair job for wages earned. One more time, what, and be specific, can you say he has done wrong? Bet, you can't answer that. IAFF, be done with you!
Here we go again, lets just bash the Chief. Question, has he saved the citizens money?, Has he worked to build a amiable relationship between the volunteers and career companies ? Has he treated everyone with respect / those that say no, state your side, with specifics) I am so tired of these "firemen" that simply want to talk about how bad everything is. I don't make $100,000, and get to sleep
I am dedicated professional career member, enough of this trash! We want to move on past this mess, the Chief has a job to do, do yours
I read this story and it was nothing, but rambling on from the volunteer fire chief defending himself. I have 2 thoughts on that 1, if he is rambling on that much there must be something to it and he is trying his best to defend himself. Second, if he is a department head why is he allowed to give out that much information to the press when there is an investigation going on? What kind of superiors does he have? What kind of bosses run Ocean City?
