Review: Aereo Makes It Tempting To Cut Cable TV

Broadcast networks make many of their shows available on the Internet, but you usually have to wait at least a day after an episode airs on television. A subscription service called Aereo breaks those shackles and makes network programs available right away.

That sounds too good to be true, and in a sense it is. First, it works only in New York City for now, though Aereo said Tuesday that it will expand to 22 more U.S. regions this spring. Its channel selection is limited to 29 over-the-air channels and Bloomberg TV. It doesn't include the other cable networks I frequently watch.

The biggest caveat is the fact that broadcast networks are suing to shut it down. More on that later.

We have ONE television with no cable or satellite, and don't regret it all. We get the 7 local digital channels and if we can't find something to watch, we turn the TV off! LOL Sure saves us a lot of $$ too! :-)

Check you comcast bills this month. they placed a $3.95 service plan on my bill. I only have cable not phone or internet from them. I called and told them to take it off because I did not request this service.

Directv will be losing us as customers in the next couple of months. Rates will be going up and with only one income, it is time to go. Just making sure I am over the 2 year contract thing before shutting them off. We have DVDs, can play Wii, or read. With no satellite and more Wii, we will be better off, physically!

The satellite and cable tv people are greedy and not that smart as business people. Subscribers would flock to and new subscribers would come out of the woodwork over night if one of them offered full programing for a long term at a set fee such as $9.95 or $19.95 a month. All other competition would go bust over night and never get the chance to recover. The only one left doing business would be the low cost/ better programing business. Their revenue would be off the charts almost instantly. Kinda like China with their cheaply priced products.

There is no competition...that is the problem. I just canceled my cable service and haven't decided yet if I will get directv or just over the air channels, hulu and Netflix for 7.99/m each. I am so disgusted with Comcast...greedy isnt even the word for it. I wish everyone would just start calling in to cancel and I bet they would lower their prices quick. Mine went from 67 a month to $115! What a bunch of BS...had same service for 10 years...
