But now, with the war on terrorism presenting new dangers and presidents taking more active roles around the globe, the House did an about-face Wednesday, voting to restore life-long Secret Service protection to all ex-presidents.
“The increased mobility and youth of still-living former presidents, coupled with the national security threat posed to post-9/11 leaders who were instrumental in the war on terror, necessitates protection for life, as has been the case since the 1960s,” said Rep. Trey Gowdy, the South Carolina Republican who is sponsoring the bill.

They fear that Americans will eventually realize that our own government (including all of its secret agencies and black operations) are the real terrorists and resort to retaliation.

More tax money wasted. Shoot them if they need to be shot. There's one now I can think of that could use that, but would not qualify under this program.

This should never have happened. This should have been voted on my the American people. Strange how this didn't happen until after the infamous election of November 6, 2012! Ten years is long enough for the taxpayers to be paying for Secret Service.
