Judge: Yellow Pages Will Continue To Be Chucked At Your Door & Subsequently Thrown Away Because Of 1st Amendment

You hear the “kerthunk!” at your door and you know the dinosaur has landed. And by dinosaur of course we mean the Yellow Pages and by landed we mean the ginormous book you likely no longer need because of a thing called the Internet has been chucked onto your property. It seems they won’t stop kerthunking, either, as a judge says it’s totally constitutional for the directory’s publishers to keep bombarding consumers with the obsolete books.

SO is littering a first amendment right? I would want to send them a bill for disposal of their trash. Or maybe I could figure out a way to charge storage fees each month until they claimed their property.

These books are actually great when you make it the first thing to toss into the trash back. It stretches the bag out making it easier to toss the junk mail in. I keep a large garbage bag in my garage in order to reduce the frequency of emptying my kitchen garbage.

While some people may consider these books a hindrance they can actually be quite useful in many circumstances. In times of emergency, it is particularly useful to be able to pull the book right open to the correct page and begin dialing immediately. It really never hurts to have a phonebook around, you never know when you could need it.
