The Chesapeake Bay and its “pollution diet” will be the center of attention in a Pennsylvania courtroom this week.
The American Farm Bureau and a half-dozen national agricultural groups have sued to block the pollution diet, the government’s latest strategy for restoring the health of the Chesapeake Bay. The National Association of Home Builders is a party to the lawsuit as well.
The farmers and home builders argue that the pollution diet was enacted without proper notice, is based on flawed computer models and isn’t allowed under the federal Clean Water Act.
