AAA: 33 Million To Travel For Labor Day Holiday

More than 33 million Americans will go 50 miles or more from home this coming Labor Day holiday weekend – that’s a jump from the 32.1 million people who traveled at this time last year, according to travel group AAA.  They also think that the number is a post-recession high and is the third time holiday travel this year has increased.

Despite a sluggish economy and recent rises in gas prices, the increase in expected Labor Day holiday weekend travelers is driven by improving consumer confidence compared to one year ago and American’s unwavering desire to travel,” said Ragina Averella, Manager of Public and Government Affairs at AAA Mid-Atlantic in a statement.

With gas close to $3.70/gallon, me and mine will be staying home this Labor Day weekend.
