Well - as far as my observation - (Arby's parking lot) - the fireworks did not go high enough into the sky - in my humble opinion.

Personally - it was like having champaign taste with beer money in their pockets - if you know what I mean.

Needed patriotic music with the fireworks.

I agree with 7:28, they did a good try, but they should've been shot higher.

i was skeptical myself, but was very impressed with the fire works. they lasted just over 30 minutes, and were definetly high enough for anyone (even at arbys) to see.

They can not go any higher. For them to go higher they would have to have larger shells. They do not have the room in that area for larger shells.

Willards had music playing the entire time the fireworks were being shot.

Cat Country had patriotic music playing by the stadiums and over their radio stations... They can't blast music through speakers all over Salisbury.

I liked the Willards display better.

The fireworks were nice but the "event" fell short. Funny how they were calling it an Independence Day Celebration. Willards were the first to call theirs and Independence Day celebration and made it a family event. Salisbury tried to steal what Willards created but weren't able to pull it off. Small town family values make family events possible. Cities only create chaos.

They should have thought it through better. Thee fire works were shot to low because of the heavily populated area. That combined with none of the business's turning off their lights, let to a disappointing event.

"That combined with none of the business's turning off their lights, let to a disappointing event." That was the worst part, can't believe not one even turned off their tall/bright signs. I thought they were plenty high enough though, people just aren't use to seeing fireworks 25feet from a building...

Just like that "chickenfest" BS last year -- bummer!

What a waste of money. Why would Salisbury attempt to have fireworks when Willards, Hebron, the Shorebirds, Ocean City, etc. has fire works. Please quit being so redundant. Why not just have a patriotic Independence Day parade.

It is a shame people are so critical of events held (free) for public enjoyment. Believe me there are plenty of volunteers working hard at these events - giving their time to bring entertainment and joy and fellowship to the different communities. 1. Were you a volunteer? (Yes - than you deserve a big round of applause and our gratitude) 2.Did you go to the events, to socialize with family and friends and marvel at the feats of the producers? (Yes - than you deserve a big round of applause for your attitude) 3. Are you one who goes, just looking for things to complain about?

From reading the comments on here I think most of you fit #3. With fireworks you cannot blame the organizations that hold the events - if you believe the fireworks were a fizzle, perhaps you should look to the producers with the computer shooting them off.

anonymous 7:32, spoken like a true Mike Dunn. Why not just use your name Mike?

not if you sat in that exhaust filled parking garage for over an hour waiting to somehow get out, with 2 screaming kids.
what a mess.
poorly planned.
never again.

I thought it was awesome as well! We were sitting basically right underneath them. Yeah, they shot low but there was plenty of space right on bateman st, and plenty of space in the bennett sports fields to sit and have an amazing view, but noone chose to sit there. plus parking in the garage is a horrible idea. Glad i live close enough to walk!
hopefully they have the funds to do it next year, and even better!

I really do not understand all the negative comments about the fireworks. They were great. If you didnt like where you were sitting, then move to a better place...we did and had a great view. I wish I could shake the hands of those that stodd up and put this display on. I hope it continues for many years. The location was central and great. My only problem was with those using their Salisbury government cars to transport their personal families to the event and get perferred parking. Dont give me the "If there was an emergency, our vehicle was there" excuse. If there was an emergency, are you going to dirve mom and the kids there also??? I am hoping this is the kind of crap that Joe puts a halt to as mayor of Salisbury.

nice try Salisbury. Save your money next year, and everyone go to the Shorebirds instead. ( 0r Willards) Fireworks are supposed to be in the sky, not low on the ground. And certainly not in a congested area like Bateman street which is a traffic nightmare on a good day. sorry, but that is my opinion.

People were complaining of not being able to see the fireworks from certain locations. You can't not blame that on the firework crew. I don't know if the show was hand fire or electronic but with the limited space that was provided to them they can only have so large of a firework shell. I said from the very beginning that only the people up close and were sitting on the field were going to be able to see the fireworks. I guess I was right. This location was not the best because it dd not give them enough room to launch the larger shells that many expect for a show this size.

Mike Dunn said this would be the biggest display besides at the beach.

Beg to differ. I went to Cambridge for the first time ever and was blown away, no pun intended.

I asked the guy next to me if it was like this every year, and he said, oh yeah and it gets better every year.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Dunn for doing the fireworks, just his pompous claim.

When and how did he cancel them years back? You wrote something about that, Joe, could you say something again and give some details?

Hi Joe, just wanted to say that the fireworks were ok, not the greatest, but close to home and well, lights in the sky. what I really wanted to tell you was my husband and I were walking through the venders and Mayor Ireton shook my husbands hand, knowing him from being a city worker, and as we walked away my husband said, "that was uncomfortable" I asked "why?" and he pointed to his 'Albero for Mayor' shirt. OOPS! LOL
