JERUSALEM – The Palestinian Authority agreed today to exhume the body
of Palestinian Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat amid new
allegations he was poisoned with the radioactive element polonium-210.
“The authority, as it always has been, is ready to completely
co-operate with and clear the way for an investigation into the true
causes leading to the martyrdom of the late president,” said PA
spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh, who was close to Arafat.
It was not immediately clear when the exhumation would take place.
Arafat, who died in 2004, is buried outside his former compound in the
West Bank city of Ramallah.
