Sea Rise Faster on East Coast Than Rest of Globe

From Cape Hatteras, N.C., to just north of Boston, sea levels are rising much faster than they are around the globe, putting one of the world's most costly coasts in danger of flooding, government researchers report.

U.S. Geological Survey scientists call the 600-mile swath a "hot spot" for climbing sea levels caused by global warming. Along the region, the Atlantic Ocean is rising at an annual rate three times to four times faster than the global average since 1990, according to the study published Sunday in the journal Nature Climate Change.

It's not just a faster rate, but at a faster pace, like a car on a highway "jamming on the accelerator," said the study's lead author, Asbury Sallenger Jr., an oceanographer at the agency. He looked at sea levels starting in 1950, and noticed a change beginning in 1990.

I call BS on this one. On June 22 the Associated Press and the San Francisco Chronicle both reported that the sea level on the west coast was rising faster than the rest of the world. Just more scare tactics from the tree huggers.

total bs, even the top scientist for climate change came out and said it was all bs. Now he's been disowned by the loonies!

I do believe it, but do not know why it is just the specific area.

I heard it reported yrs ago New York would be not more ,along with a few others. Coud be.
What do you think would happen If the Real Truth of the matter gets out? You don't think the news media
will let that leak , do you?

11:13 why do you believe this stuff? Think about it. Water seeks its own level and, except for an equatorial bulge caused by centrifugal force, sea level is sea level. How can sea level in one spot be any different than at any other spot? Don't you think the water in the high spot would run down to the low spot?

I can not understand all the non-believers. Where is the other half of Fox Island, or almost all of Holland's Island. But, this is good for the real estate folks, at least they will have some customers to sell property on the beach to, just don't plan to leave it to your grandkids.

Fox Island and Holland Island have nothing to do with rising water. Their situations are the result of erosion. Moving water, not rising water. Moving as in rain, wave action or tidal action.

Absolutely not true

The earths gravity affects sea level.

The sea level height vs ellipsoid height difference between places like Greenland and Alaska can be over 20feet.

Google earth gravity model to see how it is not spherical but very lumpy

1:00, that's what I meant but tried to do it in a simplified way. Yes there are differences due to gravity and centrifugal force and other factors. But the stuff about sea level rising faster here or there or wherever is just propaganda.

I call BS on this too ....if sea levels were rising they would be rising everywhere not just in one place water doesnt work that way
