Researchers say adults who had frequent dental X-rays as kids now
face an increased risk of a common type of non-cancerous brain tumor.
Dr. Alex Naimi, a Vienna-based dentist, says patients have a right to be
concerned about any type of radiation exposure, but she says it is
important to consider all the facts when looking at the latest study
from the Yale School of Public Health.
She says the study, published in the online journal of the American Cancer Society, looks at the cumulative effects of X-ray technology that has actually been phased out.

Although there is no definite cause-and-effect relationship the connection between heavy use of the new X-ray technology by my dentist in the mid 1940's probably caused the thyroid cancer I had. Those rays were not reduced in intensity as they are today, lead shields were not used, and he used the machine a lot. The Doctors at Oak Ridge took a while to agree with me but they finally said the probability was quite high.
