There has been a breakthrough in the fight against pancreatic cancer,
and it's all thanks to a 15-year-old Anne Arundel County teen and his
mom, who drove him to Johns Hopkins University every night after school
to test his theory in a lab.
North County High
School freshman Jack Andraka won what is considered the Olympics of
science fairs with a diagnostic breakthrough in cancer treatment. The
Crownsville 15-year-old won a $75,000 grand prize in this year's Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for his new way to test for early-stage pancreatic cancer.
Andraka said the inspiration came from an uncle who died of the disease. He said the idea came to him in biology class.
"That's
what's really cool about science to me -- you can affect other people's
lives. You can basically do anything with science," the teen winner
said.

Well it is for now. Once the drug companies get a hold of it or someone else and they can find a way they can profit millions from it.
Hats off to Dr Anirban Maitra for giving him a chance when no one else would. I bet they are kicking their self now. Also to his mother for driving him there every night. She must be proud of this fine young man!

I didn't read THIS story but the one I did read a few days ago said it was 10 times cheaper and 1,000 times more accurate.
If I was a doctor in this field I would be embarrassed.
And how about that other young person who found a 'cure' for cancer month or so ago?
To me, if these young kids can find things like these, seems to me there is already a cure. But it is more profitable to 'treat' the cancer than to 'cure' the cancer.
No, I have no proof of this, just a feeling and it wouldn't surprise me if this were true.
We all know what this country truly worships, and it's green and 6 inches long.
