Middletown Man Dies In Two Vehicle Crash

Location: 1300 block of Cedar Lane Road, Middletown, DE

Date and Time of Occurrence: Sunday, March 4, 2012 at 8:50 p.m.

Operators and Vehicles:
Operator #1: Frank Sinkko, 19, Mentor, OH (properly restrained)
Vehicle #1: 2006 Ford F-250

Operator #2: 27 year old Middletown, DE man (properly restrained)
Vehicle #2: 2007 Chrysler Sebring

Middletown, DE- The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a two vehicle crash in which a Middletown man has died.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:50 p.m. last night as a 27 year old Middletown, DE man was operating a 2007 Chrysler Sebring and was traveling southbound in the area of the 1300 block of Cedar Lane Road. For an unknown reason the Sebring drifted off of the right hand side of the roadway. The operator of the Sebring then overcorrected his vehicle and entered into the northbound lane where it then struck a 2006 Ford F-250 which was being operated by Frank Sinkko, 19.

The operator of the Chrysler Sebring was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending the notification of his next of kin. Frank Sinkko was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where he was treated for minor injuries. Both operators were properly restrained at the time of the crash.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
