AAA Warns That Spare Tires Are Going Extinct

No one likes changing a flat tire. In fact, just storing the spare can be a problem: if it's inside the vehicle, it can take up valuable cargo space, and if it's kept outside, it may prevent you from using bike racks or other accessories. But AAA says that thanks to new fuel economy regulations, we may not have to worry about either of those things much longer, since spare tires could soon disappear altogether.

I can remember being 16 and my father telling me I had a flat tire on my car. So I said ok with the attitude of what do you want me to do about it? Well he straightened me out quickly on that subject. He said come on you're the one that's going to change it. I was freaking out but when I was done I felt like I had really accomplished something. That's a sad thing if they do away with the spare. Young people are too "soft" now. This will be just one more thing they won't know how to do.
